Kaylyn, Julia, Mathew, Tristan and Chris took me up to their hang out place... which was on the roof. They had laid picnic blanket on the roof as well as brought up some pillows so that everyone was comfortable. We had been chatting for hours and it felt like I had known Kaylyn's friends for years. We laughed and made jokes and told embarrassing stories. I didn't know how long I had been at the pack house but I knew it was long enough that my Mum would be worrying where I was. But somewhere in the party I had lost my phone, I knew it would be somewhere in the house, it was just a case of finding it.
"I've got to find my phone and tell Mum that I'm okay." I started to get up, as I did Kaylyn looked up at me,
"Do you need any help?" She said,"No, i'll be fine. I'm a big girl." Everyone in the group laughed except for Matt, as I looked at him I saw that there was worry in his eyes. I shook the thought off though, thinking that I had only just met him and I didn't know what he was thinking by just looking at him.
I made my way to the roof door and pulled it open. There was a small, winding staircase that led from the roof to the second floor of the pack house. I made my way through it slowly considering the lights were off and I couldn't see very much.
As I started walking down the stairs I started to feel dizzy. As I bumped into the walls I would giggle. What was wrong with me? The thought quickly vanished as I stumbled the rest of the way down the stairs and into a corridor that was also dark. In the distance I could hear music playing that I had never heard before but I liked it. I started to dance, on my own, in the darkness of the corridor.
I stopped suddenly when I realised that there was a figure standing at the other end of the dark corridor. Squinting my eyes I attempted to get a better look at who it was."Who's there?" My voice called out down the corridor.
The figure started to walk towards me, usually I would feel scared if this happened, but my body wasn't responding to my brain's commands. Eventually I took a step back but it didn't matter because the figure stopped meters away from me.
"Um... You left this on the table, I just wanted to return this to you." A deep voice called out and as it did I felt butterflies in my stomach. I recognized that it was Adam talking to me. For the first time properly, without being strangled or being interrogated.
He held out something rectangular and thin. I knew instantly that it was my phone. Relief flooded through my body.
"Oh my god thank you, I was worried that I had lost it. But how did you know it was mine?" I smirked at him.
He stuttered, "Your lock screen photo is of you and Kaylyn together so I guessed it would either be yours or Kaylyn's."
I blushed and thought that it was good the lights were off in the corridor so he couldn't see me. He passed the phone to me and I took it out of his hand, whilst grabbing the phone, my hand skimmed along his hand. His hands were large and firm but also soft. Why was I thinking about his hands? I felt a jolt of electricity run through the hand the touched his hand. I resisted the urge to jump back quickly.
"Uh thanks." I smiled even though I knew he wouldn't see it.
"Why are you here all by yourself?" He sounded slightly worried,
"Oh I've been on the roof with Kaylyn and some of her friends, I just came down to find my phone so that I could ring my Mum to say that I was okay."
There was silence,
"I'm sorry I've been so cold towards you." He said quietly, it was surprising hearing those words as I wasn't expecting an apology from him considering everything he's been through.
"It's okay." I said with uncertainty,"I mean it, I shouldn't have attacked you, I don't know what came over me. So much has happened recently and I guess I just... snapped." He said slightly louder than last time.
