Chapter 9

The closer we got to the Mansion, the more my nerves intensified. I was about to walk into a house full of Werewolves. But then I had to keep reminding myself that I myself was one too. It was obvious that strange things were happening to me, I had just ripped a doorknob of the door for goodness sake.

After some thought I had realised that going back to the Mansion wasn't only for the Lucas, Kaylyn, Adam and the rest of the people that lived there but it was also for me. They were the only ones that knew what was happening to me.

"Lucas might look quite intense from the outside. He has to be because he's the Alpha. But really he's a big softy." Kaylyn smiled and tried to comfort me but to no avail.

I smirked, "Okay but what about Adam?"

"You got off to the wrong foot with Adam but he's technically your mate so he'll soften up eventually." She smiled slightly.

"Good to know" I said.

Once we got to the Mansion, Lucas was already waiting outside.

"Hello Bonnie, thank you for coming today." His voice was deep and strong. He gestured us into the huge house.

We walked into what seemed to be a huge room. I looked up and saw that an indoor balcony that went all the way around the big room. White pillars seemed to be holding it up. There were people looking over the side and as we walked in, their eyes focused on me. Talk about pressure.

In the middle of the room there was a huge wooden banquet table stretching across the room. People had already gathered and sat down. I guessed that I was walking into a meeting.

Lucas pointed to some empty chairs and gestured for Kaylyn and I to sit. I was glad that Kaylyn was there because I don't think I would have been able to do this on my own.

"Thank you for coming everyone." Lucas called across the room and everyone quietened down to listen.

"Now I know that everyone has heard about what happened yesterday outside the house. From this event we learnt that Adam's mate Fern had sadly been killed which we formed you of yesterday evening. But this girl here" Lucas pointed to me "seems to be linked to Fern's wolf." No one spoke in the room but instead all eyes were on me.

"Everyone I would like you to meet Bonnie." There was silence. Gee, tough crowd.

Lucas smiled encouragingly at me, "Bonnie we are going to ask you some questions, some of them we already know but it's for confirmation."

I stuttered, "Okay" I said quietly.

Lucas sat down to my surprise then Adam stood up. He wasn't looking me in the eyes but I knew I wouldn't be able to either.

"What is your full name?"

"Bonnie Grace Cooper." I answered quietly again. I could feel the foreign presence within me building up again. I knew it was because of Adam being so close.

"How old are you?" There was no emotion in Adam's voice.

"17"

"How much do you know about us?"

"Very little"

"What do you know?"

"All I know is werewolves are real, I'm now apparently a werewolf. The pack was attacked a couple of weeks ago and Fern was taken. My wolf is called Mara."

"Who told you that we were attacked?" He frowned.

"I did" Kaylyn called out "because she wanted to know what happened to Fern." I'm glad she answered otherwise I wouldn't have been able to call her out.

"Hmmm" Adam responded. Then the questions continued.

"Has Mara spoken to you?"

"No, the first time I realised that she was there was when she spoke to you."

"Have you experienced any changes?"

"Um, I'm always really hungry and uh... this morning I ripped a doorknob off of my front door." Some people in the room chuckled.

"What?" I asked no one in particular.

"Everyone has done it whilst going through the changing. He have hundreds of doorknobs in a store closet if you want to take one with you." He smiled.

Well I'm glad I wasn't the only one. "Thank you"

Adam didn't seem to react the same way as everyone. Damn I felt bad for him. He was interviewing the girl who had his mate's wolf. It must have been hard.

"We think Mara is either weak and that is why she is struggling to communicate or she is rejecting you as a host." Adam called out. Well that's cool to know.

Lucas shook his head and spoke up, "It is very unlikely that Mara would reject Bonnie. Wolf souls choose the purest souls to bond with. You're hungry all the time because Mara is gaining her strength. You also have to eat for the two of you and considering one of you is a wolf you have to eat quite a lot."

Great I thought. My Mum is literally going to have a heart attack at how much food I will have to eat.

Adam seemed to be writing something down on a piece of paper in front of him.

"Thank you very much for your co-operation Bonnie." Lucas said, "I know this is hard but it does help us out a lot. Do you have any questions for us?"

Before I came here I had so many questions in my head but now that I had the chance I couldn't think of one.

"How do you keep yourselves hidden from everyone?" I finally asked

"Well there are many ways we keep hidden and usually it is very easy but on rare occasions people do find out about us. In this case, you found out about us but it wasn't your fault. Many werewolves can interact with with humans and live their lives along side them. Like your friend Kaylyn and her family." Kaylyn blushed.

"But some cannot stand to be in their human form for a prolonged amount of time so they live here, where they can transform safely and run free through the forest. There are other methods but I think you've had enough surprises for today."

I completely discarded everything that he had said except from the 'human form' and 'transform' part.

"What do you mean transform?" Again some people in the room laughed.

"Kaylyn did you not tell her?" Lucas looked at my best friend.

Kaylyn blushed again and turned to me.

"You know the movie/book Twilight." She asked

"Um yeah who hasn't" I rolled my eyes at her.

"Well then you know that Jacob Black and his family was able to transform from human to wolf within a couple of seconds. Well that's what happens with us. It's not just the enhanced senses and strength we get from our wolf souls but also the wolf souls can take control and transform into their true forms."

I looked at Kaylyn completely dumbfounded. Although I should have guessed that that was one of the things that came along with being a werewolf.

"Does that mean that you can transform?" I whispered to her,

Kaylyn shook her head, "Werewolves cannot transform until they're 18" but her eyes lit up suddenly "only one more year." I wanted to laugh at how excited she was.

"Oh" That was all I could say.

There was silence for a couple of seconds.

"Would you like to see someone transform?" Lucas asked

The question surprised me, I wasn't very sure if I wanted to see that. But considering I had now suddenly become a werewolf I would eventually see it happen.

"Okay"
