Kaylyn and I planned to meet in a little café that we went to on a regular basis. We would grab a slushy and some food then sit on the curb and watch the cars go by. If a yellow car went by we would punch each other and say 'yellow car no returns'. Whoever punched first won that round. It was a childish game but we had been playing it for 5 years.

Kaylyn was already was waiting outside the shop with two slushies in her hand as well as two huge sandwiches.

"Kay you didn't have to do that. I can pay you back" Kaylyn shook her head whilst handing the food and drink to me.

"Don't worry, think of it as a congratulations for not dying yesterday." She laughed.

"Kay I didn't 'nearly' die yesterday" I laughed "I just fainted".

Kaylyn laughed again, sipping from her slushy,

"But what would make a better story? You fainted or you got lost in the woods and NEARLY DIED" We were both giggling now.

"The funny thing is that I didn't feel any symptoms of heatstroke, well, except... I think I hallucinated."

Kaylyn nearly spat out her drink,

"Oh wow, what did you see? A unicorn?"

I laughed,

"No nothing like that. It felt so real though. I was walking and then I saw a big ball of light in the distance. It came towards me and then stopped and kind of looked at me. Then it..." I noticed Kaylyn and stopped sipping from her drink. A mixture of concern and shock was pasted on her face.

"What?" I asked,

"Did you feel a connection?"

"What do you mean?" I asked her, I hadn't seen this part of her before. In a couple of seconds she went from my goofball best friend to a mature girl who I didn't recognise.

"Just answer... Did you feel a connection to the ball of light?"

"Uh yes, but how did you kno..." she interrupted me before I could finish

"Come with me." She took my hand and started walking swiftly. In the surprise we had forgotten our food and drink on the side of the road.

"Kay slow down where are we going?" She didn't answer but instead walked faster.
"What's wrong why aren't you talking to me?" She still didn't answer,

I quickly yanked my arm away from her's and stopped, she spun around and stared at me dead in the eye.
"Kay seriously what's got into you? Where are we going?"

Kaylyn sighed,
"I'm sorry, it's just that..." She paused
"It's just what?" I wish she would just answer my question

"I don't think that was a hallucination Bonnie. I'm taking you to people that can explain everything. Please just trust me and let me take you to them."
I didn't know what to say. She didn't think that me seeing a ball of light was a hallucination, she thought that something that peculiar actually happened. I didn't know whether to turn round and go home or follow her.
She must of sensed that I was unsure,
"Please Bon, this is really important."
After a moments silence I quietly said 'okay' and just like that we were walking again but even faster than before.

I hope you're enjoying the story so far X

Question: Where do you think Kaylyn is taking Bonnie? Why has she reacted the way she has?
