"I'm here now, I'll call you after," I said into my cell phone before I hung up on my friend, Wells. My hands shook as I fixed my hair and my shirt. I looked down, making sure I had the address right.
Room for rent: seeking a roommate. Must be able to pay your share of the bills on the decided on date. Three bedroom, two bathroom house. Access to swimming pool and close to downtown. Call for an appointment to view the house. 624 Jefferson Street.
When I called to make the appointment, a woman answered. She very happily told me to come immediately. I sighed. It was 3:00. Time to go.
I walked across the road, not wanting to pull into the driveway before I collected myself. The house was fairly large, the backyard was fenced in, most likely the pool was back there. The walkway was decorated with orange and white flowers, making me feel a little better.
I knocked on the door, holding my breath. Thankfully it was only seconds before the door opened. I almost gasped. The man at the door was breathtaking. He was tall, tan, fit. He had dark curls above his deep brown eyes, his face splattered with freckles. Good god! I shook myself and stuck my hand out.
"I'm Clarke." He shook my hand. "I'm answering the roommate add."
His gaze moved down my body, heating my skin. If he was living here, too, I'd be kicked out for jumping his bones. Shit! "I'm Bellamy," he said, his voice deep and gravely, instantly shooting heat all over me. "Come on in, there's a few things to go over."
I followed him into the white house and looked around as we made our way to the spacious kitchen. The interior was stunning, it was modern and chic mixed. My dream home.
"Well," Bellamy cleared his throat. "My sister is supposed to be here, too. She'll be back soon and I'm sure she'll hound you with questions even after I do. I hope that's okay."
I smiled, trying not to seem too excited. "She must be the one I spoke to on the phone. She seems very nice, very happy," I chuckled.
He smiled. "She is." He grabbed a few sheets of paper and a pen. "First thing, how old are you?"
"25," I answered.
"Why the interest in this place, specifically?"
"I just moved here three days ago and I need somewhere to stay that's minutes away from my job, and your sister was so nice, she set this place in stone the minute we spoke."
"Where'd you move from?"
"Seattle. Yes, it rains a lot," i laughed.
He chuckled. "That must be a popular question. Why'd you move?"
"Honestly, I hate my mother and I hated living so close to my father's grave. I finished school, decided I wanted to change my life, so I did."
"I'm sorry to hear that," his words soft. "I understand that pain. What'd you go to college for?"
"Originally, a surgeon, but I switched to nursing. Surgery was my mother's choice for me, but it left me no time to be happy and pursue other outlets, like my father had always wanted."
"So you'll be working at the hospital?"
I nodded. "I start in two weeks."
"Are you okay with company?"
I nodded. "Yes, I am. If I can sleep, I don't really mind what else is happening."
"Do you cook?"
