I closed the file of patient Garret Summer and grabbed my purse. I walked to the front desk to see Jackie. "Hey I'm taking a 30," I nodded at her as she gave me a thumbs up. I went to the deli and grabbed my favorite, a pepperoni with extra pickles and a Dr. Pepper. I walked to the very back of the parking deck on the third floor, the only place with a bench, but I was a little thrown off. Some guy was on my bench.

Oh well. I sat down next to him, avoiding eye contact and devoured half of my sandwich. I chugged my Dr. Pepper. I wasn't very hungry with a stranger cutting his eyes to me constantly, so I wrapped the other half of my sandwich and put it in my purse. I decided to check my phone for a few minutes.

Raven: "Is Octavia okay?! I can't get off yet and she hasn't replied. Please tell me they let you see her!"

I sighed and decided to call her. "Hey, I know you can't talk long, but she's in a recovery room. She got stitches on her left arm and Lincoln has been by her side this whole time. She's banged up, but she will be out of here tonight."

Raven sighed into the phone. "Sorry I had to ask you, I know you're busy but I had to know. Have you spotted her brother yet?"

I reached for my cigarettes, but I couldn't find a lighter. "Dammit, Raven where is my lighter? I buy a new one every single day," I sighed as she laughed and apologized.

The guy next to me shifted and faced me. "Here," he said and handed me a lighter. I lit it and mouthed a thank you as I took a step away from him, not wanting to have my smoke in his face.

"No, I haven't met him yet. It's so weird that we've never seen him. We've known Octavia for two years. I know he's been off in the military, but still! Especially after Gina bragged about meeting him and how hot he was."

Raven laughed. "Exactly. Fuck her, though. She'd hump a shoe."

I busted out laughing, covering my mouth when my laugh echoed. "Well, O said he's out now but he had some stuff to do before coming home. Maybe she'll throw him a party when she's better and we can meet him. And no. Before you even say it, I will not bone our friend's brother."

"You're so lame," she whined. "But I gotta go, more clients. Love you!"

"Love you," I said and then pressed end. I sighed and tossed my filter aside. I needed another cigarette.

I walked back over to the bench and grabbed another cigarette, sighing. "I'm sorry, I hate to be a bother, but can I get another light?"

This time I actually looked at the man who handed me the lighter. He was tan, his dark hair was wild with unruly curls. His face was splattered with small freckles. I almost moaned when I met his eyes. Deep chocolate. This man was every woman's fantasy and anyone who said other wise would be a liar. My mouth watered at the sight of him.

"Th-thank you," I stuttered as I handed his lighter back.

"So, you're a nurse here," he started. "You must know that those aren't good for you, then."

I smiled and sat back down, next to him. "I started when I was 15 to rebel against my mother. It stuck," I laughed. "So, you're not a nurse. What are you doing here? You okay?"

"I'm here for a family member. They got injured and I haven't seen them in awhile, but I'm waiting to go in until they are fully awake and ready to be surprised."

"That sounds really sweet." I smiled.

"Your friend seemed nice," he chuckled.

I blushed a little. "She's a wild one," I laughed. "She's something else for sure. But she's great."
