Bring On The Rain

        Clarke

I sighed, exiting the drop ship that was now the medical bay and basically my new home. I was up all hours of the day and night with countless injuries. The air was thick, the clouds dark and gloomy. I inhaled, smiling. It was going to rain.

I headed behind the drop ship and snuck out the small hole in the fence that thankfully, only a few people knew about.

"I just need an hour to myself," I thought as I ducked under the pine tree branches, pushing them away quietly. I sauntered on, watching the ground carefully, making sure I didn't make too much noise. I knew that if people noticed me leaving, they would probably ask to come along. Or the asshat helping me run this place would yell and pitch a fit because I left without telling anyone and I might have possibly forgot to grab a gun.

I headed on, remembering the way to my spot. I ducked and dodged tree limbs, stepping carefully over fallen branches and rocks. Finally, I ducked and slid under the two huge rocks and I was there. The clearing that I had came on by accident when I was looking for new plants. The clearing was only about 20 feet all together but that's all I needed. I pulled the little music player that was found in the Ark store and plugged in the headphones. Time to relax.

I laid down in the grass, my blonde hair flat on the grass, and began singing along to the music just as it started to drizzle. I smiled.

"Hey, Miller!" I called out, jogging over to the group of kids by the fire. "Have any of you seen Clarke? She's not in the drop ship."

"No, I haven't seen her since breakfast. Sorry, man."

I nodded at Miller, walking away. I asked a few more people around camp before it dawned on me. The hole behind the drop ship.

"I swear if that girl didn't grab a weap- what am I saying? She never remembers a freaking weapon! She's our only doctor person and she just runs off, risking her freaking life! Sometimes I just want to grab her little shoulders and shake her until she actually listens to me!"

"Open the gate!" I called, tucking the two pistols into my jacket. "The princess is missing, probably grabbing herbs. Keep a watch," I called to Jasper and Miller.

I headed out, wondering which way she would go. I doubted the lake or river, we had tons of seaweed. I looked up to the darkening sky. It was about to pour and we would get caught in it if I didn't hurry.

I walked around, listening and looking for signs of her, when I path under a few pines caught my attention. It was hard to see, but there was a boot print, right next to the larger pine. I ducked under the branches and followed the path, being careful of the roots and rocks.

I looked up to the sky, and was hit with a drizzle. "Great, now we're caught in the rain!"

I pushed forward and was stopped by two huge rocks, touching each other. I looked around for more prints but the rain was already saturating the ground.

"I could drag you from the ocean, I could pull you from the fire, and when you're standing in the shadows, I could open up the sky.."

      Is that, is that Clarke?

I looked down, seeing the small opening between the two rocks. I laid down and slid through, pulling myself up on the other side. I squatted down, peeking through the trees, not wanting to alert her yet.
