Clarke's heart was in her stomach as she hurried down the the hallway. She was half an hour late because the principal wouldn't stop talking. It was bad enough she was the new girl, now she was also late!

Holding her breath, she pulled open the wooden door, and everyone's head turned. Trying to fight the blush that was creeping up her neck, she walked forward to her new teacher, Miss Ganton, and handed her the paper that Principal Jaha told her to pass on.

"Miss Griffin," she smiled. "Welcome to Ark High. We're right in the middle of going over the lesson plan for this semester. The only empty seat left is in the back there, by Mr. Blake." She turned her attention to the back, to a boy who was ducking his head, reading. "Mr. Blake?" She called. As he raised his head, Clarke almost gasped. He was gorgeous. He was tanned, deeply so. And Clarke could tell he had freckles, his hair was a lump of dark, messy, waves. "Please allow Miss Griffin to copy your notes."

Clarke made her way to the back, sitting beside the boy. Without glancing at him again, she pulled out her notebook and a pen.

"Here," he sighed, handing her the detailed lesson plans.

Quickly, Clarke copied down everything, thankful he had wonderful handwriting and that the paper was detailed. As she finished the last line, she placed it on his desk. "Thank you very much," she whispered.

"Sure, Princess," he sneered.

"Asshole," Clarke sighed, shaking her head. The rest of the class period, Clarke could feel his eyes on her, but she ignored it. She didn't even think about how sexy he was. She forgot all about that curly hair and those freckles.

Clarke slowly packed when the bell rang. She was hoping that everyone else would hurry out and she could walk in the hallways without bumping into people. But, the NOT sexy guy next to her was waiting for her.

"Newbie," he inclined his head, allowing her to leave the classroom first. "So, where you from, Griffin?"

"Texas."

"Hm. Next time you're late, don't expect my wonderful notes. You're on your own," he winked.

"I don't believe I would ask you for a cup of water if I was on fire, Blake."

"Damn," a boy said from behind them. They both whipped around to see a guy with his dark straight hair pushed back, his stormy eyes glittering with humor. "What did you to the new girl? The pretty new girl," he winked at Clarke.

"She's not your type," Blake said, immediately making Clarke feel warm. It was almost possessive, so she shook herself. Ugh. "Newbie here was late to first and had to copy my notes. So she's mad at me."

"First, my name is Clarke. Second, again, I won't ask you for anything else, that I can guarantee, Blake," Clarke spat.

"The name is Bellamy," he smiled easily. "You'll be screaming it later," he winked, causing Clarke to want to strangle him.

"Pass up your quizes," Mr. Roan's voice boomed in the classroom. He had surprised the class with a pop quiz. He said he wanted to see where everyone stood already.

Clarke made sure her name was written down, and passed her paper up to the beautiful dark girl in front of her, jealous of her sleek pony tail. Clarke's blonde waves could be annoying.

"Talk amongst yourself Quietly," he emphasized the last word. "I'll be placing you in groups based on these quizes for the first few weeks of class. But keep in mind, the groups will be for studying and helping one another, not gossip. Got it?"
