"Oh no" I murmured. I don't want my timetable. It's probably going to be really horrible just to prove my bad luck.
"It'll be fine" Max cuddled me as we stood waiting in the queue. I felt butterflies in my stomach. I hope these new feelings won't stick around, I don't want to mess up our friendship.
"I hope so. But I have such bad luck..." I frowned "I mean, I'm not even close to being 'attractive' let alone a model"
"Your beautiful to me, maybe even the most prettiest girl in the world, little sis" Max grinned crookedly.
"Aww thanks" I cooed pinching his cheeks like a granny.
"And anyway, if you had bad luck, you would never have been graced with my sexy self" Max smirked, ruining the moment. I rolled my eyes, typical Max.
My eyebrows furrowed. Why was the queue taking so long?! It's really frustrating, my impatience is intolerable. Becca nudged me and pointed to Kellie who was near the front. That lucky bum. I gave her an evil glare whilst she smiled and waved momentarily. I played with a pink hairband around my wrist. Max bought it for me. It had yellow stars on it, I used it all the time so it was pretty worn down. He also bought me a wolf necklace, I love wolves. If you're wondering it was for my 15th birthday last year. I accidentally flicked it and scrambled out of Max' s hold to bend down. Just as I bent down someone kicked me hard in the ribs. Ow. That hurt. Someone had really high heels. I heard some sniggers. I cringed with pain, fighting back tears. You're a brave girl, Lou. Pull yourself together.
I picked up the hairband. Max' s warm hand touched mine and brought me to my feet. I looked up. Brittany, Cole and Jake. I'm guessing it was Brittany who kicked me because I seriously doubt the guys would be wearing heels. The air grew thicker as Jake and Max stared at each other. It was very tense and extremely awkward. I was then shoved into Jake by someone behind me and he caught me. I stared into his green eyes. Something was very familiar about them, oh well. His eyes looked disgusted at what they saw, he threw me to the ground. Brittany giggled a nasty girly giggle. I was hurt. Pain thumped me as I was shoved. Luckily I had a saviour, Max, who caught me before I hit the ground. Why would Jake do that to me? My heart felt wounded. My crush had just shoved me to the ground. Max' s strong arms wrapped securely around my waist. I breathed a shaky sigh of relief. Max tucked a strand of hair behind my ear and looked deep into my eyes. He looked as if he was examining my emotions. I was good at blocking them though, as I was also good at breaking down emotionless walls.
I stared into Jake's misty eyes. His breath was ruff and he didn't look happy at all. Max gave a daring look. Something was wrong between them. Brittany dragged Jake away whilst Cole shrugged before trailing behind them. I knew Jake has always hated me and Brittany has too. Brittany is my childhood bully and Jake just doesn't care. I'm so stupid to love the person who breaks my heart the most. It's not fair. Kellie saw my glum face and wandered over to me as her friends saved her spot in the queue. She looked puzzled. Max held onto me. I was grateful to have an amazing body guard like him. I'd probably be a sad, lonely loser without him. Kellie squeezed me hand in reassurance. I relaxed more as I saw Jake disappear to the front of the line with Brittany and Cole.
"You OK?" Max huffed. He was still shooting daggers with his eyes where Jake had last been.
"Yeah, thank you" I smiled up at him. Strangely, we were acting more like a couple than friends. I wonder, did he know it too?
"Wanna come up front with me and Tara?" Kellie asked. Yes! Free pass.
"Yeah! But only if Max and Bec can come too" I gave her an angelic look and batted my eyelashes.
"Sure. Come on" Kellie sighed and dragged the tree of us further up the queue.
In the queue, Max began to play with my hair. He was attempting a plait. It felt nice as his fingers parted the small knots in my hair as he wound them round one another to make the perfect plait. But of course, it was bound to go terribly wrong. He must've been really bored because he fell asleep on me halfway through. I jumped up and my eyes widened. Max groaned as I accidentally disturbed his sleep. We were next in line! It's Timetable Time! He realized our position in the queue and grinned lopsidedly. Kellie hopped up to the reception lady who seemed really grumpy and tired. She said all our names then the lady huffed before looking into all the cubby holes behind her to gather our needed information. I was practically dying to know what my timetable was going to read. Crossing my fingers, I prayed silently. The lady handed Kellie the pieces of paper and simply tucked them in her pocket. I knew we shouldn't have trusted her!
