Chapter 22- Competition

TWO MONTHS LATER

'GOT NO MONEY BUT IT'S
ALWAYS SUNNY HONEY!'

Dick's eyes immediately searched for his phone. He rolled on the sheets of the king sized bed and looked at the little table which was on his right side. He got closer and rubbed his eyes, to see clearly. When he noticed the phone, shaking, almost falling to the floor, Dick reached closer and grabbed it. He shut his alarm before Bruce would wake up because of the damn 'Rich Kids' song.

Dick loved that song, actually. He didn't care if the song was opposite of his life. He really fit the song to himself without any reason.

Thirteen year-old threw his phone to the bed as he got up and walked towards the bathroom door. He washed his face and finished his daily morning routine.

"Master Dick, it is time for your school."

Dick turned his head to the elder man, who was standing next to his door, and nodded at him. "I am ready. Let me grab my backpack." Alfred went downstairs to wait for Dick.

The boy picked his school bag from the ground and ran to catch up with Alfred. They both came down to the kitchen and Dick quickly grabbed his lunch from the table. Alfred immediately made a sandwich while Dick did his last check-ups for school. The old man gave the sandwich to the boy.

"You know, Master Dick, normally I do not tolerate for you or Master Bruce to eat the meals without sitting down but since you are really late, this will be an exception. Do not get used to it, young sir." Alfred said, raising his eyebrows and warning Dick deeply. Young boy nodded and started to eat his sandwich while walking to the car. He waited until Alfred came outside and got in the car. Then, he got in the car, too.

Not long after, they reached to the school and Dick fixed his hair and uniform before getting out of the car. He murmured a 'thanks' to Alfred and walked to the school with fast and big steps.

"Okay, What is the first lesson?" Dick whispered to himself. He picked a paper out of his backpack. It was his schedule. He checked over his first periods and his eyes stopped when he saw Physical Education for today's first period. "Holy Bat- Why me?!" Dick whined quietly and ran to the boy's changing rooms.

After changing, he immediately went to the gym. He froze when he saw the students playing basketball already. Coach was watching them and yelling at them to do better. Dick rushed over next to coach. He was screwed up this time.

"Uh, sorry for being late, sir. It will never happen again, I promise." He said awkwardly, looking at his teacher with pleading eyes to not to have detention after school.

Coach sighed. "You always say that, Grayson. I have no choice but to give you a detention paper this time." He said. Dicks's eyes widened.

"But sir, you don't understand! Please there must be something else! If I get detention, my guardian will not let me have a ticket to the show I wanted to see for weeks!" He protested. Coach raised an eyebrow.

"What show is that? A new teenager movie coming soon?"

"No, sir." Dick looked sadly. He rubbed  back of his neck. "It is Haly's Circus. It comes to here once in five years." He stopped talking. Coach leaned down to his height.

"It is not my problem you didn't go to there five years ago." He said.

"Uh, sir, Last time it came here... I lost my-" he paused and took a deep breath. "parents. I want to visit the circus so- " Coach stopped him.

"Sorry, kid. I remembered now."

"So, is there anything to save me from the detention? Please, sir!" Dick pleaded.
