Dragonfly

Do you remember?

How a dragonfly alighted,

Draped in black velvety patina,

Close to your arms as you,

Sat watching the raindrops stroke,

The glass panes of the windows,

(Like never ending tears of joy),

And how scared you felt as you,

Took in its beady big Eyes,

And the long, glittery tail,

And you were too afraid to move,

But you just had to,

So you started to edge away slowly,

But that was when you noticed its wings,

Those gauzy,silken wings,

As clear as a drop of fresh rain,

Etched with the delicate embroidery of veins,

And how when you looked through them,

You saw the world in all its iridescent beauty,

As if our vision had been defective all this time,

And  this how the world truly looks like,

And how you wanted to touch those diaphanous wings,

But you remembered how if you touch,

A butterfly's wings, it'll never fly again,

So you wisely kept your curious fingers still,

And contemplated the incredible beauty in front of you,

As the dragonfly and you,

(Such unexpected companions)

Observed the world and the rain,

Carefully through natures rainbow glass.

Do you remember?
