Stuck in a quagmire?
You can't rise till
You sink a little.
Got your heart broken?
If you don't know what broken is
How will you know whole?
Butterflies in your stomach?
Take a gulp of undiluted confidence
And drown them cold.
Do people underestimate you?
Trust me, proving people wrong
Is much more fun than proving them right.
Said something that you regret?
The sun will still rise tomorrow
A second chance to say it right.
Afraid that you messed up your life?
Life's a poem, it doesn't always
Rhyme right or make sense
But still so unquestionably beautiful.
Cried yourself to sleep last night?
A good cry detoxifies you
Washes you clean
Just make sure that you
Never cry for it again.
Some people hate you?
You're not chocolate
You can't be universally loved.
People treat you like you are invisible?
You are oxygen, presence barely felt
Absence can metaphorically kill.
In love with someone who doesn't love you?
Unrequited love is irresistible
Because it's unrequited.
Let go, let go
One finger at a time.
People call you fat?
Remember, you are not a work in progress
You are a masterpiece, breathtakingly special.
Afraid you are too different?
Be proud, soul sibling, it is
The different ones who turned the world.
You might call me naive
Oversimplifying things
But the truth is
Life is quite simple.
But we humans
Addicted to drama
Addicted to sad songs
Addicted to darkness and heartbreak
Are determined to complicate it.
So instead why don't we all
Grab our smiles and words
And paint everything we see
The tint of the sun?
