Chapter 24

Keisha's p.o.v

The next day, I chose not to go to school because I was too depressed, Hayvan got a little sick (probably from all of that stupid crying yesterday), and Jolene met up with Bryan somewhere private. She told me that she wanted to tell Bryan face to face once she found out that Oliver texted me that she was pregnant.

Before Bryan and Jolene left, Bryan dropped Hayvan and I off at the hospital, asking Jolene over and over why he couldn't stay with Hayvan and I. I instantly broke into silent tears that only Hayvan could see because I turned away from them, holding Hayvan in my arms, who was staring into my eyes. I tried to keep Oliver away from Hayvan and away from knowing about her—so that both of our lives isn't put in danger—by using Jolene, but now Jolene is pregnant and Oliver knows! I wanted to protect Jolene from Oliver because he's starting to be clingy to her in the worst possible way, and now look, she's pregnant with his child, he knows and she's possibly going to either get killed—cause of her mouth since she really doesn't like Oliver—or she's going to be a depressed soul.

After Hayvan was done with the doctor, Hayvan's been fussing a whole bunch. "Ugh, what now, mamas?" I asked her, causing her to burst into tears. Oh gosh, not now! The doctor explained, "Hayvan had to get a shot to help her immune system before she gets any further in her high temperature. She's not old enough to get any meds, so we are just going to see what happens, but if she gets any sicker, I want you to rush her back here." I nodded before thanking the doctor and leaving.

I got onto the bus, getting ready to go home. Is Jolene really pregnant or was that a false positive? How will Bryan react to this? Will he ever forgive her? Will that just make him protect her even more or will he just abandon her and my promise with her will be broken? I promised her that Bryan will help her to get through with Oliver, but will he really?

Bryan's P.o.v.

After I dropped Keisha and Hayvan off at the hospital, Jolene said that she wanted to go somewhere else to talk, even when I objected and told her that I want to stay with Keisha and Hayvan because I was worried about Hayvan.

When we got to the pizzeria—which she said she wanted to go to—we sat in. Neither one of us said anything for about 5 minutes before I asked, "So, what'd you want to talk about?" I don't feel like wasting my time here when I gotta get back to both my mamas—Keisha mamas and Hayvan mamas. I am curious about what Jolene wants. It must be serious if she dragged me away from her niece who's running a high fever, and leaving her with Keisha when Oliver could easily spot them if he chose to take a little trip to the hospital.

She looked down at her hands before saying, "There's a situation that happened that puts my life in danger, not only Keisha and Hayvan." I put my phone down on the table and leaned on the table to listen carefully.

There was a moment of silence while she was looking at her hands before I saw tears dripping down her face and onto her hands. She started to shiver, followed by small whimpers. I instantly got up from my seat and sat next to her before hugging her as she put her head into my chest and cried. What happened, I'm so lost? Does any of this have to do with Oliver or Keisha? Or even me?

"Come on, what happened? Why are you crying?" I asked after she calmed down a little. She looked up at me, her face looking more broken and distraught than before.

"I-I'm pregnant, Bryan...I'm pregnant because Oliver had sex with me even though deep down I didn't want to, but I couldn't say no because of Keisha. Now, Bryan, I'm pregnant and Oliver knows!" She yelled before crashing into my chest. What...

I looked at her hair as her face was buried into my chest. Wait what?! I pushed her off my chest and stood up. She looked at me with fear before asking, "W-what?"
