"yes madison you're right I am a dolphin." blake said and I smiled.

Blake and I were in the car driving to go mini golfing together.

"I knew it."

he pulled into the parking lot and I looked at the course. it was the same place shawn had taken me on our first actual date.

"did I ever tell you shawn brought me here?" I asked Blake and he laughed.

"many times." he responded.

we walked up to the familiar looking shack and were greeted by a familiar looking face.

"tony right?" I said and he smiled.

"yeah, maddie?" he said and I nodded.

"new guy already?" he asked referring to blake and I laughed.

"oh no, blake, he's just my friend." I said.

"so still no boyfriend?" tony asked and I shrugged.

"still no boyfriend." I replied and he laughed.

"why didn't you text me then?" he joked and I laughed looking down at my hands then back up at him.

"I don't know. bad decision on my part." I said.

"ok well to prevent that from happening again, how bout you give me your number? I'll make sure to text you." he suggested.

"sounds good." I agreed.

I gave him my number and Blake and I got our balls and clubs to use. we went out onto the mini golf course and Blake looked at me in disbelief.

"who the fuck was that?" Blake laughed at he put his golf ball down.

"that was tony." I said and Blake looked at me waiting for me to continue, "he gave me his number when I came here with shawn."

"but you never hit him up?" Blake asked hitting his ball.

"I was distracted by shawn." I laughed and he shook his head.

"are you seriously gonna give up on that whole thing with shawn? you liked him a lot, mads." Blake said looking back at me.

"I'm not giving up on it. if shawn wants to make an effort then he can reach out to me. and the fact that it's been three weeks makes me think he doesn't really care." I said putting down my ball.

basically, after prom shawn and I barely talked. at first of course, he would still wink at me in the hallway and stuff but eventually that just stopped happening.

Blake shrugged, "do you care?"

"of course I care."

"then how come you aren't making an effort either?" Blake asked and I shrugged.

"I'm not trying to be pushy. but hey, why not explore my options you know what I'm saying." I said nudging my head back towards tony.

"alright." Blake said shaking his head as we continued the game.

"what?" I asked him.

"what?" he said defensively.

"what do you mean 'alright' " I said mimicking him.

"I mean, I bet my money on you and shawn so if you could help me out with that, It'd be greatly appreciated."

I rolled my eyes jokingly and my phone buzzed in my pocket.

I looked up from my phone and saw tony looking at me. I smiled at him and turned to blake.

"I'll be right back." I said before walking away.

"hey." I said to tony.

"hey." he smiled, "so uh, a few of my friends and I are going to the beach later, you wanna tag along?"

"umm," I said looking back at blake then returning my gaze to tony, "yeah, I'm in."

"cool. I'll text you about it later." he smiled and I laughed.

"alright." I smiled walking away from
him.

"well I got plans later." I said to blake brushing off my shoulder.

"he asked you out?" Blake asked.

"to the beach. with his friends." I said and Blake nodded.

"ohhhhh."

"you should come." I said as soon as the thought popped into my mind.

"no." Blake laughed.

"yes." I said back.

"why would i want to do that?" Blake asked.

"cause it'd make me happyyyy." I smiled at Blake.

he stared at me for a second, "did you even ask him if I could come?"

"no, but he won't mind." I said with a pleading look on my face.

Blake sighed, "ok."

I smiled at his response, "yeaaahh that's my man."

Blake laughed fist bumping me and we continued with our game.
