Makoto POV

About a week ago, my friend, (y/n), found out that she would need surgery. She had been having problems with her knee for a while and, after a lot of pushing from me, she finally went in to the doctor to get it checked out. I went with her, but they didn't let me in with her, so I was anxiously sitting in the waiting room. I wanted to know what condition her knee was in. Was it perfectly fine? Was it pretty bad? Was she going to die from it!? I started to worry even more, hoping that it wasn't the later. I was going through all the possible outcomes when she walked out of the back rooms. Seeing her come out, I jumped out of the chair and liked at her worriedly. She chuckled at my actions and walked over to me.

"Don't worry," she said, "I'm fine. I just need to come back in in a few days for some surgery, no big deal."

She was acting nonchalant about it, but I could tell that she was nervous for the surgery. I promised myself that I would do whatever I could to take her mind off of the surgery for the next few days.

The days following her appointment, I made sure to keep my promise. After, and in between our classes, I would hang out with her and plan fun activities. We both go to the same university, and she transferred to my high school, Iwatobi, when we were third years. I never met her at Iwatobi, but I heard about her occasionally. When we both came to the university, we had a class together, and became closer. Her parents had moved after she started attending university, and so she had to call them and tell them about her surgery instead of going to the doctor's with them.

Six days before the surgery, we went out to a movie. She had been telling me for a while about how she really wanted to go see it, so I bought tickets. Her eyes lit up when I showed her the tickets, and she started thanking me like crazy. I just brushed it off and said that it was no big deal, that I wanted to do it for her. Sadly, I hadn't looked into the movie before purchasing the tickets, so I had no idea what I had gotten myself into. It was in fact a horror movie, and although I wanted to be a man for her, I couldn't help but squeak and hide behind her as the movie went on. She just giggled at me, and grabbed my hand to try and comfort me. I blushed, but because of the dark theater and the fact that I was hiding behind my free hand, it wasn't visible.

The next two days, we had to study a lot for some exams, so we didn't see each other as much, just when going or leaving classes. We also studied together for a little bit on one of the days, but she had to get going, so it wasn't for very long.

Three days before the surgery, I took her to a zoo. She had once told me how she loved to look at all the animals, and that she hadn't gone since she was a kid. I wanted to bring back a bunch of her happy childhood memories so that she forgot about her surgery. We both had lots of fun going around and looking at all the cute animals. After, I went and bought her a plush, and she ended up surprising me with a orca key chain. I thought it was cute but was surprised that they had such a thing at a zoo gift shop, seeing as there were no whales in the zoo.

Two days before the surgery, we just decided to hang out in her dorm. She had a bunch of movies, video games, books, and other things that we could entertain ourselves with. In the end, she pulled up a website (Where do you watch your anime?) and we watched anime. She kept getting what she called 'the feels' at the emotional parts, and I would have smiled at her silly actions, but I too was getting 'the feels'.

One day before the surgery, she was freaking out. She tried not to let it show, but I could tell that she was starting to get worried. Her other friends could tell that something was wrong, but didn't pry. I on the other hand was starting to get worried too. I was worried that she would be too scared or afraid to go through with the surgery. I got her to smile a little bit that day, but there wasn't much I could do.

The day of the surgery, there was nothing I could do. I was trying to assure her that everything would be fine as we waited for the doctors in the waiting room. It's hard to convince someone else that everything will be alright if you yourself aren't sure if it will end up that way. I frowned, knowing that I had broken my promise to myself. I looked up when the doctors called her name. She stood up, and I just worriedly looked up at her. She turned around to me, squeezed my hand and smiled.

"It'll be alright, just like you said."

She was placed on one of the beds and was wheeled off to where I couldn't see her.

Two hours after the surgery, she had woken up. They surgery had been successful, and she hadn't taken very long to wake up afterwords. She was brought out to me, with the help from a few nurses, and placed back in her original seat. They told me that she was still under the affects of the drug, and that we could stay in the waiting room for as long as we needed. I smiled and thanked them.

"Hey, (f/n)," (y/n) trailed off.

I chuckled at her before responding, "No, (y/n), did you forget that I brought you?"

"Oh! Mako-chan!" She chirped. "I missed you."

I laughed even more, "What do you mean? I just saw you a few hours ago."

"But it felt like forever because I love you," she cooed, cuddling up into my side.

I turned a bright shade of red and tried not to stutter, but failed.

"W-what d-do you m-mean?"

"I said I love you, Makoto Tachibana!" She screamed as she stood up. A few other patients in the waiting room looked at her. "Did you hear me? I love you!"

As she screamed again, I saw her eyes get droopy. I smiled, and helped her calm down, grabbing her hand in the process. After she calmed down, she was able to fall asleep, her head resting on my shoulder. I would have to wait until the drug's affects were gone and she was awake to talk to her about her confession. But for now, I was just happy that I had found out we both feel the same way about each other.

AAAAHHHHH!!!!!! That was so cute! I loved it, and you better have too. I know that I haven't posted anything for about a month, but I will be back to updating every week from now on (hopefully)!!!!

Goodbye, my students, have an anime filled day!!!
