Your POV

"Come on girls! Hustle!"

It was currently basketball season and you, as the team captain, were trying to whip the first years into shape.

"Let's go! (A/N: Go go let's go lets go Dateko!) We won't switch drills until everyone gets this right!"

Everyone was working hard, and you were glad, but that didn't mean you could let up. The girls basketball team had been looked down on for years and you had made it your goal to change that. You were in your third year, so you had to train the girls for when you were gone. It suddenly caught your attention that three of the freshman were arguing about something off to the side of the court. You jogged over to see what the problem was, but as you neared them, one threw the basketball. Unfortunately, the doors to the gym were open and the ball went soaring through them. Everyone stood still for a second, blankly staring at the open door. After a second, you regained your composure and called everyone over.

"We are all going to look for the ball. This happened before, and it took a long time for the few girls sent out to find it. If we all look, i'm sure we'll find it a lot quicker and get back to practicing in no time. Even if you don't find it, meet back here in 10 minutes. I don't want to see anyone in here a second later!"

The girls nodded and split off into small groups, running out of the gym. You ran out by yourself, figuring that someone else would just slow you down. You jogged around the area for a few minutes before venturing further away from the gym. You had been searching for a little over five minutes and were considering heading back when you heard something.

"What should we do with this basketball?" The firsts voice asked.

"Where'd it come from?" Another questioned.

"I'd guess the gym but it just rolled in here, did it not? The gym is quite far from here so it would be hard to get the ball here," a third voice commented.

The voices were coming from the pool, so you ran there as quickly as you could. Wow, you thought as you ran, that girl has a great arm; I'll have to compliment her later. When you arrived at the pool entrance, you slowed your pace to a light jog. You made your way into the pool and saw two guys standing by another with a basketball in his hand. At the sound of your footsteps, they looked away from the rogue basketball. You recognized two of the boys. The one with darker hair and glasses was Rei, you had talked with him briefly in the library before, and the one with blonde hair you believed was called Nagisa. They were both third years like you and on the swim team. You had never seen the boy in the middle before, so you assumed he was younger than you.

"Hello, I am (l/n) (y/n). I'm sorry about the basketball. Some of the first years were a little too, um, excited. I hope it didn't disrupt you guys," you looked behind them at the swimmers who had swimming to see what was happening.

"It's alright," Rei said.

You smiled a bit in relief. From the corner of your eye, you saw Nagisa elbow the younger student in the side.

"Just give her the ball already," He laughed.

The boy blushed a bit and brought the ball over to you, his eyes looking at the ground. You thanked him and were about to leave when Nagisa stopped you.

"You're the girls basketball captain, right?"

"Y-yeah, I am," you stuttered, originally not expecting to be put on the spot.

"I thought so! I saw one of your games last year and you did great! I thought that you were the best player I had ever seen, even though I didn't really know you yet. Then Rei told me that you had become the captain this year," his eyes sparkled as he talked and you couldn't stop yourself from blushing.

"T-thank you," your composure was faltering yet again. "I should probably get going. Practice is still going and if I'm gone for too long, the girls might start goofing off."

In reality, you had a few minutes before you needed to be back, but you wanted to get out of that situation as fast as possible. You were flattered by everything Nagisa was saying, but if you listen to it much longer, you would completely lose your composure and turn into a pile of blushing mush.

"Oh, okay," Nagisa sounded dejected and you suddenly felt bad.

"But you can walk me back. That way we can talk some more."

Nagisa smiled so bright it was like you were looking at the sun, "Yes! Definitely!"

"But only if it's okay with your captain!" You quickly said, not wanting him to get in trouble.

"Oh (y/n)-chan, I am the captain," Nagisa said dramatically, "and this captain says yes. Rei, you're in charge while I'm gone."

You though Rei was going to scold him, but he just nodded and yelled at the bystanders to keep swimming.

With the basketball in hand, you and Nagisa started walking towards the gym. You two bonded over your problematic first years and some cheesy jokes. You casually strolled together, you forgetting to be back in the gym after ten minutes. You liked Nagisa. He was funny, cheerful, and made you feel giddy inside. You couldn't help but develop a little crush on the blonde boy.

By the time you arrived at the gym, close to thirteen minutes had passed since you first left, but you didn't know or care. You and Nagisa arrived at the gym door, laughing at his latest joke. You heard the squeaking sound of tennis shoes on the gym floor and were happy that your team had started practicing. You turned to Nagisa, standing in the doorway to the gym.

"It was great to meet you Hazuki-kun."

"You too, (y/n)-chan, and you can just call me Nagisa!"

"Okay, Nagisa-kun, I hope we get to talk some more in the future."

"I hope so too! And I'll come watch one of your games if you to come and cheer for me at a swim meet some time."

"Of course."

"But you need to promise to cheer for me as loud as you can!"

"Of course," you smiled brightly.

"Wow, did the sun just come out or did you just smile at me?" Nagisa shouted, pretending to protect his eyes.

You chuckled and blushed a bit. Nagisa laughed too and waved goodbye saying that if he took any longer, Rei would scold him for the next three days. You waved back and walked into the gym. You had thought the pickup line was great and all, but honestly, Nagisa was more like the sun because he was the light of your life.

Wow, I actually wrote a thing. I'm back from the dead, aka I finally got my butt off the couch and wrote a request. I will continue with the requests I had on my requests open chapter, so sorry for those of you who have been waiting for ages.
