More daddy Haru!!! Enjoy this day with the adorable Ryu and a little bit of Haru! Oops... I didn't mean for that to rhyme.
Your POV
Your son, Ryu, sat looking out of the window, his little head moving as his eyes followed the raindrops down the window. A solemn look, which had placed itself upon his face ever since he woke up this morning, was ever present. He had been so excited yesterday that it was almost hard to believe it was the same boy.
Today was no ordinary Saturday, you and Ryu had been making plans for this exact day in the previous few weeks. He had been thrilled at the idea of going to the zoo, going shopping, and ultimately getting ice cream. Haru had even managed to get the day off of swimming, much to his dislike, to spend time with his family. In the end, their day of fun was ruined by the rain your son was currently watching.
Haru had gone to his swim practice, seeing as there was no way your family was going on any adventures today, which left you and Ryu alone to watch the rain destroy your plans.
You were washing the dishes, a chore that the rain allowed you time to do, and watching your son sadly eat his lunch. He was so disappointed when he found out you couldn't do anything with the rain pounding down outside. After looking at his somber face for a few more minutes, you sent Ryu to your living room to watch one of his favorite movies.
Finishing the dishes, you glanced outside before making your way to your living room. Ryu was sitting on the floor, a few feet away from the screen. His eyes were glued to the screen as his favorite character hit the villain with a finishing blow. You were relieved that his mind was at least temporarily taken off of your lack plans for the rainy day. His face still retained a dull look, even as he watched the show, and you were determined to fix that.
"Hey Ryu," you softly called to your son.
He hummed in response, unwilling to look away from the screen.
"I have an idea. Want to do something fun?"
You didn't receive an answer until the credits started rolling a minute or so later. Ryu looked depressed as he turned his attention from the screen to you.
"What is it?"
"Come with me," you said as you smiled and pulled your son with you to the mudroom.
You dressed him in all of his rain gear, his raincoat, boots, and cap, before putting on your own. When you were both ready, you opened the door, holding the hand of your confused child.
"Where are we going mom?" He asked as you started pulling him outside.
"Outside for some fun!" You cheered as you rain out into the rain, hand in hand with Ryu.
He let out a little squeal as the rain started to pound you both when you left the shelter of the porch. His squeal was soon replaced with giggles as your brought him over to a puddle forming on the sidewalk.
"On the count of three we jump in," you instructed, "One. Two. Three!"
You both screamed as the water splashed around you, getting your faces, hands, and unprotected pants wet. But neither of you cared about your wet clothes nor the consequences that would come with it. Ryu continued to splash in the puddle, finding amusement in trying to splash you. A genuine smile danced on his face as you two continued playing and you were glad he was no longer sulking.
You two were running and splashing in the rain for a few minutes before Haru's car pulled into your driveway. You both looked at it, forming a plan to attack your probably unsuspecting husband. As soon as the car parked, you two snuck to the back of the car, ready to pounce. You turned to Ryu and put a finger over your lips, a sign to keep as quiet as he could. You slowly turned your head back to the vehicle and waited to hear the car door close, but you didn't hear anything. Confused, you inched your head out from behind the car to see what was taking Haru so long.
The moment you looked around the corner, you saw another face just centimeters away from your own. You let out a shriek and tried to escape his clutches. Ryu also let out a squeal as he saw his father come around the corner of the car and tried to follow your actions. Unfortunately, Ryu was still a bit to slow to escape your husband. So, Ryu let out another little squeal, followed by giggles, as his father scooped him up. Ryu, not wanting to let his mother down and be caught, fought his best to get out of Haru's arms. But Haru was a strong man, and a strong man who knew his son's weakness. So Ryu was no more after his father started tickling him.
You smiled while watching the scene. You loved to see your two boys having fun. Although, your bright smile turned into a frown when your husband swung your weakened son over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and turned his attention to you. His playful blue eyes pierced your own as he started walking towards you. In a moment of panic, you turn to ran, but having forgotten the rain made your lawn muddy, you slipped and fell on your stomach. You scrambled back up, not ready to let your advancing husband catch you, and ran safely away. After another minute of barely escaping Haru, you started to get tired, not in the best of shape. You had been out of shape ever since you had to start caring for Ryu, and never found the time or energy to start working out again. Haru on the other hand had swim practice almost every day and therefore had significantly more stamina than you. You were starting to shiver and breath heavy, but Haru looked unfazed with Ryu still hanging like a limp noodle over his right shoulder. You sidestepped to try and avoid him, now even more determined to stay free, but to no avail. Haru was just able to snag your arm and yank you back, causing you to fall butt first into a mud puddle.
Tired, you gave up, admitting defeat, and let Haru pick you up like he had done to Ryu and throw you over his other shoulder. He made his way to the front door, his wife and son lay over his shoulders, exhausted from their fun. When they made it inside, he struggled for a few seconds to close and lock the front door. When he succeeded, he made his way to the stairs. He readjusted you two and started to walk up, struggling a bit under the weight on his shoulders. Reaching the top, he once again readjusted you and Ryu and walked to the bathroom. He placed you two on the floor and started running the hot water in the bathtub.
He took off Ryu's dirty and wet clothes and placed them in a laundry bin off to the side before gently placing him into the warm water. You sat off to the side, tired but enjoying seeing Haru take care of Ryu. The boys added some bubbles and toys to the bath and started playing with them. Your smile became softer as you watched them play but despite wanting to continue watching them, you hoisted yourself off of the ground. You started walking out of the bathroom, saying a soft "I'll be in our bathroom" as you touched his shoulder. He nodded and continued to play with Ryu.
You walked across the hall to your shared bathroom with Haru. You closed the door and started to take off your own rain and dirt soaked clothes before hopping into the warm bathtub. You took a deep breath and let your body relax. Your mission to cheer up Ryu has been successful and despite your original setback, you had turned the rain into something fun. You figured your family could try to carry out your plans next week, knowing Haru wouldn't mind taking off of practice to spend time with Ryu. You just hoped that Ryu would be excited to hear that you would try and carry out your plans next weekend. But, in all honestly, you wouldn't mind a fun day like this again.
You shook your head free of thoughts, closed your eyes and let a smile spread across your face as you enjoyed your bath after a rainy day.
This turned out so cute! I had like no idea what I was doing while I wrote this but it turned out alright. Sorry that it ended up being more of a domestic Haru x Reader with A LOT of focus on Ryu. I just love him so much cause he's so cute. I'm thinking about continuing to do oneshots with Ryu in the future because he gets lots of good reviews. I'm also thinking about doing some of these Dad AUs for other characters as well. Let me know who you want to be a dad!
In other news, I think I'm not going to write all of the oneshots requested a long time ago. If you requested a while ago and you still want me to write it, PM me or comment on here and I'll put it on my list.
