Ahana's P.O.V
I watch as Rehaan enters the hall with his friends. He is staring at me. Nidhi from my right elbowed me and wiggled her eye brows. I blushed and looked down at my lap. I really hope my hair is covering my face.
He's still staring. This is making me feel so uncomfortable. I looked up and saw him smirking at me. And then I realized that everybody was looking at me. I looked at Nidhi and raised an eye brow.
'Why are they staring?' I mouthed to her. This is so embarrassing. She giggled. "Rehaan's mother just asked you if you knew how to cook." She said, rather loudly.
Oh.
"I uh" Before I could say anything, my mum saved me.
"She does know how to cook basic food. But she is yet to learn a lot." Mum said. "Oh that's okay. It's a big thing that she knows how to cook. Nowadays girls only learn after marriage." Mr Malhotra said.
"Yes. That is true too. But our Ahana does cook. Pretty well might I add." Dad said. Gosh. Did he have to speak?
Mr Malhotra looked at me and smiled warmly. "You don't have to worry dear. Rehaan also knows how to cook. We don't believe in the whole 'women have to cook and men have to go work' notion. Our son will help you in everything." He said.
Thank God. I really don't cook well. And if they had high expectations, I would be nothing but a disappointment.
I smiled at him. "When is the Pandit coming?" Rehaan's mother asked. "According to what he said, he should be here in about five minutes." Mr Malhotra said.
"Would you all like some tea? I'll go make it." Rehaan's mum said. "I'll help." I said, standing up.
"No no dear. You go talk to Rehaan and his friends." She said. "No it's fine. I don't mind helping." I insisted.
She playfully glared at me and said, "Okay. Come on." I smiled and followed her into the kitchen.
"Can you get the tea powder from the second shelf? I'll go boil the milk." She said. "Okay." I said and went towards the shelf. They were very high. I couldn't reach. How does she usually reach?
I heard her laugh when I was jumping to reach it. "Use the stool. It's right next to the grinder." She said. I looked right and indeed there was a wooden stool. I took it and stood up and got the jar which contained tea powder out.
"Usually Rehaan's father, Sanjog or Rehaan himself are there. So they help. When they aren't, I use the stool." She explained. Ohh.
I nodded.
"Are you usually this quiet or only now?" his mum asked curiously. "I just don't have much to say." I say quietly.
She laughed. "You know, you aren't like any of the other girls who proposed marriage to Rehaan."
Now that sparked my attention. "What do you mean?" I asked while getting the tea cups.
"Oh before you came into his life, he had received many proposals for marriage. We looked at a few girls but none of them were even close to what we were looking for. They came from well off families but they were spoilt and they wanted to marry Rehaan only for his money and of course looks." She explained.
Oh.
"Did he not like any of them?" I asked. She shook her head. "No. Not even a single one. He wasn't even ready to talk separately to them after meeting a few. He kept complaining that they were 'all over him'." She said laughing.
