Chapter 45

Rehaan's P.O.V

"She's got a fever. Oh god, is there no way we can get there faster?!" I asked Sanjog. "Bhai, I'm going as fast as I can." He said sadly.

We were on our way to the hospital. It's been twenty minutes and there isn't any hospital in sight. I was panicking. The doctor dad brought along examined Aisha and Ahana. He said Aisha was fine and that she just had a sprained ankle and few bruises but Ahana, the doctor was sure that she broke a bone in her left leg and that there was damage done to her ligament in her right one. We need to go to the hospital and get x-rays and a couple of scans done to see if she suffered from any other injuries. I could feel my body freeze when the doctor said that they needed to check if they had assaulted her...sexually.

My blood ran cold. The thought of someone touching Ahana brought me rage. And now she's running temperature. "Rehaan! Hospital!" Sanjog said. My head immediately turned towards to the left where Sanjog was pointing.

Misha Hospital it said outside. We parked the car and the doctor helped Aisha and I lifted Ahana and we rushed to the hospital, into the emergency block.

The nurse sitting there immediately got a stretcher and asked me to place Ahana there. I did and she immediately called the doctor and they rushed her into the emergency room.

I saw that our doctor, Gagan had already consulted other doctors and had taken Aisha into the x-ray room just to take precaution. I knew she was in safe hands. Another doctor approached me. I read her tag. It said Dr Maya Pai. "Okay sir, you are the one who brought the girl in just now, yes?" she asked. I nodded. "Okay. I need you to fill in this form. Are you a relative?" she asked. "Uh yes. I'm her fiancé." I replied. "Is she going to be okay?" I asked shakily. "We're not very sure right now Mr..?" "Rehaan Malhotra."

"Mr Malhotra, we are taking your fiancée into the x-ray room. We can then tell you what exactly has happened to her body." She said. I nodded, not knowing what to say. I was beyond afraid.

"She'll be fine. Don't worry. It doesn't look life-threatening to me." She said and left.

I couldn't find my phone and right when I was about to ask the lady sitting next to me if I could borrow her phone, I saw Sanjog jogging towards me.

"Bhai, what did they say?" he asked worriedly. "They've taken both of them to the x-ray room to check if there are any internal injuries."

"Do you have your phone?" I asked him. He nodded. "I had kept an extra one in the car. Here." He said and fished out the phone from his pocket.

I called dad and in three rings, he picked up. "Rehaan! Where are you?" he asked. "Dad we're at the hospital. Misha Hospital. It's on the left of the road." I said.

"We're coming. I'll call your mother and Ahana's family too." He said. I replied with an 'okay' and cut the call.

Gagan, our doctor came to us and said, "Aisha is fine. I guessed right. She's got a major sprain in her ankle. She needs to rest for two weeks and not put too much pressure on the ankle and she'll be fine." He said. Relief swept over. At least one was fine.

"Thank you so much doctor" Sanjog said and I agreed. "I'm going to go check on Ahana. I'll be back." He said and left.

In about half an hour, Gagan came out of the hospital ward. "Okay so I can tell you one thing for sure, she's going to be fine." He said. I let out a shaky breath. My Ahana is going to be fine. Relief took over my body completely. Tears filled my eyes and a smile took over my face. I saw Sanjog and he was smiling too. "I have to leave now but Dr Pai will let you everything in detail." Gagan said. I shook his hand and thanked him. Soon after he left, Dr Maya Pai walked towards us.

I stood up. "Mr Rehaan? You can see your fiancée now. She's unconscious but she'll regain consciousness soon. And only one person now please." She said. I looked at Sanjog and he gave me an encouraging smile. I looked at Dr Pai and told her I'll be coming.

We walked straight and then took a left and in an air conditioned room, I saw her. Laying on the bed, now wearing the hospital gown.

I stroked her face and slowly kissed her forehead. "I love you" I whispered into her ear. "When will she regain consciousness?" I asked Dr Pai softly. "In about 20 minutes." She replied. "Maybe we can talk about her health in that time?" she suggested. I nodded and reluctantly let go of Ahana's hand that I had been holding.

We went to Dr Pai's cabin and she removed a file from her drawer. "Okay so good news, she hasn't had any internal bleeding. Her brain seems to be working fine too. She might have a tough time remembering past events for a while but she'll regain her memory soon so don't worry if she doesn't recall what happened as soon as she wakes up. Now for the bad news, she has broken her bone and it has to heal in a natural process. So it'll take a minimum of 3 weeks of rest. She has stretched her ligament in her right leg. So she will have to wear crape bandages for two weeks. And, Mr Malhotra, have you and Ahana been sexually active recently?" she asked.

That was a lot of information to take in and it took a while to process everything. Then her question hit me. My eyes widened. Other than making out and a caress here and there, we hadn't done anything. "No!" "Nothing at all?" she urged.

I shook my head negatively. "No. We've just kissed and caressed. Nothing else. We're waiting till marriage." I said. Maybe I said a bit too much.

"Are you sure Mr Malhotra? I know this is awkward but we need to know sir." She asked. Now she's scaring me.

"What happened Doctor? Did something happen? Tell me!" I said. "Nothing has happened. Calm down." She said.

"We haven't done anything." I said. "Alright. Thank you." She said. I looked at her incredulously. What. She isn't going to tell me why she asked me those questions?

"Why did you ask me that?" I asked. She sighed. "During examination, we noticed that Ahana's hymen isn't completely intact. There are no other signs of sexual harassment. Hyme- "What the heck are you telling me?!?" I asked, rather rudely. "Calm down si- "Calm down!? You're telling me that my fiancée might have been assaulted sexually and you're asking me to calm down?!"

"Sir! Sit down. And I will tell you everything." She said sternly. "There's more?!?!" I yelled.

"A woman's hymen can break anytime. It doesn't only have to be during sexual intercourse. Many activities can lead to the hymen breaking. They don't even feel it sometimes. Riding horses, playing tough sports or any accident can lead to a woman's hymen breaking. So calm down. Now I know for sure that she's hasn't been assaulted and I don't think she has had an active sexual life before either." She said.

I calmed down a little bit. "We'll still ask her when she wakes up." She said. I nodded. I walked out of the room and saw Sanjog approach me. "She's fine." I said simply.

He let out a breath of relief and patted my back. "Ahana's family and Nidhi are on their way here. Dad's at the reception paying the bill." He said. "Where's Ahana's father?" I asked. Just when he was about to answer a voice said, "She's awake. Ahana's awake."
