~Karabo's POV~
"I don't want to lose you."
Allyson's words kept playing over and over in my head. Her biggest fear is losing me. Damn.
Her race was starting and I had to go find a seat.
As I'm walking towards the stands, I remember the way she blushed when she spoke last to me, and the way she made me look like a fresh tomato. Her little giggle was the cutest and her eyes would sparkle.
Upon arriving at the stands, I locate my seat and march over to it. I allow my self to sit and get a hot dog from the vendors. I turn to the tracks, and take a bite into my hot dog. Indulge in all the flavor and goodness. The woman sitting next to me seems perplexed of my presence her.
"What are you doing here, Karabo?" She asks rather oddly.
The way she emphasizes my name was peculiar and strange.
"Came to watch my team." I speak calmly. As if the answer to her statement was rather obvious. Because honestly, it was. What else would I be doing here? Watching the competition? I wouldn't be watching women's running if I came to take a glimpse of the competition.
I calmly slouch on my chair before being distracted by the screaming of the crowd. Within minutes, they all calm down and go silent. I stand from my chair and stare down at Allyson. Her opponents were some pretty big names. If she even made it in fourth that would be quite the achievement. She was up against people like Allyson Felix of USA, although, she had slowed down alot seeing as she's the oldest one here. But she does have quite the experience. People like Talia Boore of Germany, second fastest woman in the world this year. Dibaba Jeter of Jamaica, sister of Carmelita Jeter. Third fastest woman and the woman who won gold at the World Championships. Another big name was Leatile Lethabo of South Africa. She was the fastest woman in Southern Africa for two years. The rest were not as known, but that didn't lessen their capabilities.
As they went from their warm-ups to a more serious atmosphere when the officials, called out "Set."
They all walked to their starting blocks to take their stand. Allyson being the most nervous face is my view. I was pushed down by the older lady sitting by me, and I turned to give her a death glare. But soon eased up as she didn't know just what Allyson meant to me.
I soon found myself thinking about her again, Allyson. Her smile, the way her eyes lit up. The way she bit her mouth when she was around me. They way her cheeks could get flushed in red when I complimented her. The way her eyes sparkle when she laughs, and the way she smirks once finished teasing me. It was satisfying, knowing I had broken her walls, and she had let me in.
Two years ago when we started talking and hanging out in preparation for 2018 World Championships, she had made herself seem uptight, and stoic. She had loosened up since. Or maybe, I had broken down walls she tried so hard to keep up. She had told me of the very first time she allowed someone this close. She got hurt and vowed to not allow it to happen again. I wanted to prove to her that I wasn't going to hurt her. At least I hoped so. She's already so fragile and yet still an Amazon Warrior.
Snapping back into reality by the firing shots of the gun that set the race into motion. I narrowed my eyes specifically on Allyson. She had a burst of speed when she got up which put her in position one, but just having that advantage is useless if you can't keep at the same pace or increase it. All her hopes and dreams came trashing down when she saw Talia run past her, and not long after she watched Felix of the USA run past her as if it was nothing. 200m is a long distance to get in the lead and lose control of that. The other runners gradually picked up speed and two more past her. Making Ally fifth. 50m are now left and here I am screaming her name hoping that if she hears me, she'll fight her way through this. She manages to pass the fourth place runner and I'm not sure if she can still fight through. She seems overly exhausted and I begin to lose hope until...
