Nursery

While Luna was still in the hospital, Andy and I visited her every day for at least two hours. Sometimes my parents and Andy's parents would visit her too. Luna has a big, caring family that loves her to bits and pieces and we can't wait for her to come home.

While Andy and I weren't in the hospital, visiting Luna, we'd be getting her nursery ready. We assembled the crib, received a rocking chair from my parents, a baby blanket from my aunts, diaper supply from my uncles, formula from Andy's parents, and so much more. We were now just putting the finishing touches and accents on the nursery walls. "You need any help with the butterflies?" Andy asked, painting little flowers on the bottom of the wall. "No, I think I got it." I assured him, painting my pink butterfly.

An idea clicked into my head. Gerard is an amazing artist...if he would like to...he could paint a beautiful mural for Luna. "Yanno Gerard is a great artist...maybe I should give him a call for some help." I suggested. "Sounds like a great idea! I'll call him now." Andy agreed. He called Gerard and put him on speaker.

(On the phone)

You and Andy: Hey, Geeee
Gerard: Hey, guys! What's up?
You: We were wondering if you could help us with something.
Gerard: And what's that?
Andy: We need help with Luna's nursery. You're an awesome artist and we would love for you to help us make Luna's nursery the prettiest.
Gerard: Sure! Should I come over now?
You: If you want to.
Gerard: K, I'm coming now, see you soon.
You and Andy: Bye!

I wonder what Gerard has in mind for the nursery...

Gerard arrived to our house and we took him to the nursery. His eyes widened and his mouth dropped to the floor. "Uuhhh...it's....um..." Gerard searched for something to say. "Ok...I'm going to be completely honest with you because I love you guys...but this nursery is all over the place." He told Andy and I. I mean...he's right. "I...agree with Gerard. The flowers and butterflies were last minute things we added on." I said. "Well...I think this nursery needs something that says "Luna". Luna is Spanish for moon, so maybe nightly kinds of colors. Hm...is it ok if I do a galaxy design everywhere? I can make the moon the brightest." Gerard shared his thoughts. Andy and I thought for a moment. I'd love it, I think Luna would love it when she grows up. "So, Andy? What do you think?" I asked. "Let's do it!" He exclaimed. "Yay!!! Ok, well, we should go get some paint." Gerard smiled.

We all went to Lowes and went to the paint section. Once Gerard saw all of the paints...I've never heard him squeal like he that before. He ran all around the paint section, picking out color palettes.

When he had all of his color ideas in hand, he walked back to Andy and I. "So I found a super dark purple, some black, white, a bit of pink, light blue, glow in the dark white, and dark blue. We can make a galaxy with these colors." He said. "Alright, let's get to it then." I smiled. We payed for the paint and went back to the house.

Gerard stood in front of one of the nursery walls, picturing a masterpiece. "Ok, first, we need the black and dark purple. I'm gonna put blotches of both in random places. Then, I'll blend it all together. So you and Andy put medium sized blotches anywhere. I'll put an example blotch here. But first, before any paint goes down, get some tarps, lay em down, and put the crib, rocking chair, and everything else in the middle of the room." He instructed us. We did as Gerard instructed and got to painting.

As (y/n) and Andy put blotches of black and purple down, I got a sponge and dabbed it along where both colors met, blending them together. "So...how does it feel to be a mom, (y/n)?" I asked. "It feels great for now. Once Luna gets home, things will be different. She'll cry, fuss, get hungry, need changing, but if Andy and I have patience and work together, I'm sure we can handle her." She smiled at Andy. "I believe that we can raise a healthy, happy, little girl. If I have (y/n) by my side, anything is possible." Andy returned the smile.

After the black and purple were blended, I added little, twinkling stars. Some stars were little, some were big...I even put the constellations for her. Big Dipper, Little Dipper, that one Neverland star (the second biggest star in the sky), and the twelve star signs. I made (y/n)'s and Andy's star signs glow the most. All that's left is the moon.

I chose a corner of the room to put the moon in and started painting, making sure it's a perfect circle. I tried getting every single detail from the craters to the moon shadow and little speckles of moon rock. As I finished the moon I got an idea. "Hey, we should put our signatures along the moon. We all worked on this together, we're all artists...why not sign our work?" I shared my thoughts. (Y/n) got excited and wanted me to sign first, so I did. Then, she signed in dark purple and Andy signed in black.

We took a few steps back and admired our work. "This looks amazing! Great job, guys!" I high fived them.

Gerard stayed a little while longer and we talked about parenthood, how we were when we were younger, who Luna looks like the most, and other things. He soon got tired and left. When I looked at the time...I definitely saw why Gerard was so tired...it's midnight XD. Andy and I got ready for bed. I put my old pajamas on, my stomach is back to normal size, I'm just a bit heavier because of what I ate during pregnancy. Now, I can go to bed on my stomach without crushing anyone...except for Andy. He has to deal with my restless sleeping XD.

Morning came, Andy and I got ready to go see Luna. Our sweet, sweet Luna. "We're coming, Luna!" I shouted outside the window of Andy's car.

When we entered the baby facility, we went straight to Luna's room. Once I saw her...something was different...she doesn't have any tubes in her arms, she's just laying there, sleeping. This month is almost ending and I'm happy to see her like this. No tubes, no more treatments, and she doesn't look sick. "Luna...Luna..." I whispered. We do this all the time with her, she's always sleeping when we visit, this is how we wake her up. I put my hand through the hole of the incubator and gently stroked her arm. Her eyes flickered open and looked over to me. A note was left on top of the incubator:

Luna's parents, it's ok to take Luna out of her incubator while you visit. She is not hooked up to anything, so you're fine.

I smiled brightly and opened the incubator. Luna was wrapped in a pink blanket. I don't want her to get cold, so I kept her in it. I set her against my chest as I sat down. Her head rested on my chest as I rubbed her back. I looked down and kissed her forehead. She looks adorable! She still hasn't grown hair, her head is so very soft. I sat there with her for a while, Andy got Luna to hold onto his finger and he giggled. "I love you, Luna." I whispered.

(A/n: IM SORRY IT WAS SO SHORT. BUT AT LEAST ITS SOMETHING.)
