"Just apologize."
Yeah, just apologize you jerk.
"I did nothing wrong!"
Really? You really think that? How can you think that!? You jerk.
"Then why is she hiding out in her room?"
And the point goes to Maya.
"Shut up. I bet she can hear us."
That I can. They are so loud that even though they are in my living room I can hear them perfectly from my room with the door closed and my face buried in a pillow. I could just walk out and tell them that I don't care, but that would be a big fat lie. Most would think it's stupid. In fact I know that the one I'm fighting with thinks it's dumb because he just won't apologize.
My door burst open making me get rid or the pillow and sit up. There stood my dad. He gave me a look and said, "People need to understand both sides before they can decide what side they choose." He left leaving my door open. I didn't get it until I realized that Farkle was standing where dad had stood.
He walks in closing the door behind him. The guy just stood there before saying, "I don't get it. I'm trying to, but I just don't. What did I do?"
"You told me that I got lucky when I did well in the debate Farkle," I try to explain.
His blue eyes burn into mine trying to figure it all out. I can see the wheels turning in his head as he says, "And that's what I believe. You taught me to believe with such a strong faith," he tries to reason.
I shake my head. "I know, but that's not my point. My point is that you should've had some faith in me. Not my luck. I really did my best on this assignment and I redeemed myself from last year's debate, and you say it's just luck? That hurts."
"Oh," he whispers. He comes over and sits right across from me. "I didn't realize that it seems like I don't have faith in."
"Seems? You've made it quite clear."
He closes his eyes and takes my hands. "I have so much faith in you. I mean you got me to even believe in little Pluto. That in itself is a small miracle. You also do deserve all the credit and praise for your win."
I shift so that I can put my head on his shoulder. "Then why did you say that?"
He takes a moment to gather his thoughts. "Well I've been debating for so long that I was kinda embarrassed that I lost. Especially since I have a bit more experience than you. But I ended up underestimating you and I will never make that mistake again. I'm sorry Riley."
I wrap my arms around his torso knowing that he's really sorry. "I forgive you, " I tell him with sincerity.
We stay like that for a long time before he breaks the silence. "I love you, Riles."
I hesitate before replying with, "And I love you."
I'm not sure what he means by that, but I can't lie. I really do love him.
