Sign Of The Times Again!

"Alex, please wake up, please" I heard a familiar voice say, as my eyes slowly opened. Then I noticed a man in a white coat who said:

"Alex, can you hear me? It is doctor Leeds."

" where am I?" I questioned, still drowsy as I regained consciousness in what looked like a hospital bed. Prince stood on the right side of the bed. The doctor stood at the foot of the bed.

The minute I opened my eyes, Prince looked elated and relieved. He pulled me towards him and gave me an awesome bear hug.

"Oh my Lord Athena, I was so worried about you, baby." He squealed.

The doctor looked confused.

" Athena?" He asked.

We both smiled at him.

"That is my stage name,"I mutter

"Oh I see, well we are glad you are doing okay Alex" the doctor continued as Prince stood next to my bed with his hand draped over my shoulder. The doctor looked at me then back at Prince, unsure whether or not to say something regarding my health.

"It is okay, Doc, you can say anything about me with Prince here," I said reassuringly, nodding my head. Deep down inside I worried about the baby.

Prince held onto my hand in a reassuring manner, which made me believe that regardless of the news, we stand united.

"It is about the baby."

I felt a lump in my throat when the doctor said the words "the baby."

"Alex, have you been doing anything stressful, are you resting enough?" The doctor asked as his eyes glanced at Prince who looks directly at him. "Have you been partying a lot?"

For a split second I remained silent, then I quickly respond:

"Not that much."

"Well, something is going on, I sense a hormonal imbalance, could be due to emotional stress."

"Doc no offense but is the baby okay?" Prince interjected with tears welling up in his eyes.

The doctor sighs and says: "The baby is fine for now. But if you keep this up Alex. The next time you would not be so lucky."

"Okay, then that settles it, I think it is time to head back home," Prince announced, uncomfortable with being in the hospital.

"I don't think that is a great idea, I need to examine her some more, she needs to stay here just a little longer."

"Save it doc; no man is going to keep exploring my Muse Athena. The baby is fine. I have my doctor who will cater to her. Thanks, you ready baby?" Prince smiled as he turned towards me please and relieved to know his baby is going to be okay.

I look back at him and say to the doctor:

"Yes doctor I am fine, I should go home now. Is there anything I need to do?"

The doctor shakes his head As though saying you cannot go home today. But I made up my mind; I want to be with Prince. I feel safe with him.

"Alright but no strenuous activity, you need to rest."

With that, he closed my chart and walked away to prepare my discharge papers. I glance at Prince, he looks pensive as he runs his fingers through my curly locks, he declares:

'Maybe I should take a break; there is a movie I want to see. We could see it together."

It sounded well and good, but I was beginning to wonder if being around the other ladies did not add to the stressful environment.
