The silence was then broken as Kate began to speak, spitting out the words “She definitely said she was going to lunch and not staying over the night…with that bastard?” Kate and Milly knew all about the incidents in the past involving George and they didn’t understand why Amy remained with him, he was horrible to her and she deserved better.

“From what I can remember, yes!” panic was being to show in Milly’s voice as she paced up and down the laminate flooring that covered the kitchen floor, thinking about what to do next. Kate had begun to take action, “What are you doing?” questioned Milly, watching Kate run around rapidly looking for her phone. But Kate was too engrossed and panic stricken to stop what she was doing and answer her question, so Milly followed in her shadow attempting to look for answers.

Five minutes later the house had taken a new form. It was a mess. Pillows and paper had been strewn across the floor. Furniture had been rearranged in an unfamiliar formation. All the lights were ablaze, it was like the Blackpool Illuminations had been brought to Yorkshire. Who would have thought two 18 year old girls could make such a mess in such as small duration of time? It had to be a world record? But finally after every room had been searched Milly, who had taken to the kitchen to finish breakfast, heard an ear-piercing shriek from one of the upstairs rooms. Kate had found her phone and came stampeding into the small traditional kitchen, already keying in the numbers at a fast pace. “Who are you calling?” Milly enquired for the second time, this time in hope of a response.

“Nathan of course!” replied Kate with a hint of annoyance in her voice as she thought it had been obvious to her by now.

“Sorry…gosh…give me a break! You know we are both worried about Amy, but we don’t share minds! You have to work with me here!” exclaimed Milly, sarcastically before leaving to her own room to cool off before she lashed out at Kate, which was the last thing she wanted to do at times like these. Milly knew that Kate didn’t mean it in a harsh way, she was just panicking and wasn’t thinking what she was saying. She hadn’t said nor done anything…had she?
