From “The Wasteland” by T.S. Eliot:

“These fragments I have shored
Against my ruins.”
-------------------------------------------------------------

I thought things over throughout the car ride home. I realized that I needed to apologize to Sarah and Tiana for my childishness. I needed them, and I knew it.

I entered my room and looked longingly at the bathroom.
I really needed a hot shower to clear my head after such a bad day at school.

This week was getting worse by the minute. I stripped down and entered the steaming shower. Immediately, my body relaxed. I stood under the shower for a good fifteen minutes, just thinking.

I got out of the shower and changed into a pair of short Jean shorts and a tank top, and wore my white converse. I decided that I would go out for a walk, and them maybe drop in to meet Sarah and Tiana and say sorry.

I stepped out of the house with my basketball in my hand, and phone in my pocket.

I was dribbling as I walked down the road, when I bumped into someone. Immediately, the scent of mint flavoured bubble gum alerted my nostrils. I knew who it was. Noah's face stared down at me, with a worried look in his brown eyes.

I really couldn't face anyone right now, so I did what came to my mind first. I ran.

I ran as fast as my legs would carry me, not turning back. I was too embarrassed to even look at Noah.
I reached home, and entered my room.

When I opened the door, I stood there shocked, and was about to scream, when a hand was placed on my mouth. I licked it and the hand withdrew itself.

'Yuck! Keep your dirty, stinky saliva to yourself, I don't need it', Noah said.
That's right.

Noah was sitting on my bed when I entered the room.
How did he even get there?

'You left your window open doofus! 'Noah said. Shit! I must have thought that aloud.

'So, are you gonna tell me why you ran away from me? The look on your face was an exact replica of the one that people have when they enter a horror house. I'm not that scary ', he said, with a raised eyebrow.

'I'd rather not, I'm really not in the mood to talk. You'd better go', I said, walking towards the door, and opened it, indicating that he should leave.
But, who was I kidding, he just sat down on my bed, and snuggled in my sheets.

He was so irritating. He just knew how to get on my nerves.

'Fine, suit yourself,' I said and walked into my bathroom to change. I made sure to lock the door, before I stripped down.

When I came out, he was still sitting on my bed, only now, he had opened a book, and had started reading it.

He had made it clear, he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. I sighed and sat down beside him.

'How did you get here? ' I asked him.
'I'll tell you if you tell me why you ran away, and what was all the commotion about in school today. ' he said smugly.

'OK.... Ummm, don't judge me', I said, unsure if how I was going to tell him everything. Then it hit me. I was going to tell him everything, he would know me , completely. Did I want that? Did I want to expose myself to him like an Olen window, from which he could extract any amount of information he wanted.

Yes. The thiught came to me most instantly. I wanted him to know. I wanted to tell someone, I was ready.

I took a deep breath and started talking.

' I ran away from you because I was humiliated today, and I did not have the power or the energy to face anyone. It would have just annoyed me even more, also today is a really bad day for me, as you must have heard. Your cousin gave you all a very detailed picture if how horrible I am, didn't she? about how I shouldn't ne alive, and nobody should talk to me', I said in an accusing manner.

'Hey... Don't blame this on me, I didn't  tell her to go and do something this big. She's never like this at home. At least, that's how she pretends. All this is new to me too. That's why I really want to know everything', he said looking at me intently. I realised that he was actually interested. he really wanted to help me and make me feel better. I shifted uncomfortably under his everlasting gaze.

He continued, 'Now tell me what happened to your brother, and what was Valerie talking about? '

'Maybe I'll tell you another day, 'I said, and looked away. He looked at me curiously, as if he was trying to solve a very hard puzzle.

'Okay, now you tell me how you got here. ', I asked him. I really wanted to know, because I couldn't understand him at all.

'I ran behind you, and realized where you were going, so I took another route and I saw that your window was open, so I climbed in. No big deal', he said, as if this was something he did everyday.

I started to nod, when what he said actually registered in my mind.

'Wait. I have to things to ask you. 1 How come you know of a shortcut to my house, and I don't.
2.  I STAY ON THE BLOODY THIRD STOREY, HOW THE HECK DID YOU MANGE TO REACH UP HERE YOU DUMBHEAD! YOU COULD HAVE FALLEN, AND YOUR HEAD COULD HAVE SPLATTERED ALL ACROSS THE GROUND. ARE YOU FREAKING CRAZY! '

I finished my rant, panting.
He stared at me, wide eyed, and started to slowly inch farther away from me as if I was going to bite the top of his head off, which I probably would have done, if I was not busy trying to think of how he got up here.

'Chill man, God! You scared me. Is Mother Nature visiting you again, 'cause I sure as hell can't handle you like this every month. I'll die! ' he said.
I threw a pillow at him, and he ducked.

'Shut up and tell me' I said.

'I just climbed the tree that's just outside this part of the house. It wasn't difficult at all. '

I sat there in silence, he climbed up a tree, and entered my bedroom which was on the freaking third storey just to see if I was alright.

I gave him a tight hug. I felt him stiffen, and then relax, returning my sudden surge of affection. We stayed like that for a few minutes.

'You OK? ', he asked me, and I
nodded silently.

' Then I should get going. I don't want your dad to rip your head off, if he sees me in your bedroom. ' he said, and was about to jump onto the tree, when I stopped him.

'Thanks Noah, you're amazing. ' I said, and gave him a big smile.

He smiled too, and said ' I'm here Angel. To save you're butt, as well as annoy the crap out of you. I'm always here, even if you don't want me to be ' he then tugged at my braid, and before I could react, he was gone.
