28. // You're eyes are blue//

I dragged myself into the house, and shut the door behind me.

That was exhausting.

I walked to the couch, and plopped myself down.

I heard footsteps patter down the stairs and Sarah and Tiana emerged, and by the look on their faces, I could tell that they were itching to know all that had happened.

'Go on, tell us!,' they urged.

I sighed. ' There isn't really much to tell, we had fun, he took me to a fair, and he bought me food,' I said.

' That's so cool, now you will marry him, and both of you can make babies together,' Tiana said, and she high-fived Sarah.

I gave her a disgusted look, ' Tiana, I don't think there's gonna be another date with him anytime soon, I just don't know anymore.. I mean I'm just out of something right now, and I think I'm moving on too fast. I have to slow down, and stop racing along with time.

I need to go with the flow, and not force things.
I need some more me time, you know what I mean,' I asked them, taking a breath.

'I told him that I would be leading him on if I went on another date with him, and that was unfair to him. He is a great guy, and he deserves some who is actually ready for him. He was sad, but he understood. You and I both know that if I went out with him again, I would feel compelled to go further, just to make him happy,' I said, letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

'But, Gabriel, how will you know if you're ever ready? There are so many guys out there, how will you know which one's YOUR guy,' Sarah asked me.

'You're right. Maybe I'll never know ,or maybe I'll meet him tomorrow. I think I'm ready to move on, but just not with any guy, but with that one guy who can make me smile, that one guy who knows when I'm sad, and will do anything to cheer me up, that one idiot with whom I'll be crazily in love with. I don't want to think that I blew that chance away, just because I was on another one of these stupid blind dates. Even if I don't find him, I'll know I tried,'

They just looked at me.

Tiana pretended to wipe away an invisible tear. 'Oh, Look at you, all grown up, where did the time fly?' she said, over-dramatically.
I chuckled, and hugged her.

' Is there something you're not telling us?' Sarah asked me.
I gave her a puzzled look. I really didn't know what she was talking about.
' Gab, is there something going on with you and Noah,' she asked me seriously.

'Is that why you're acting all philosophical? Are you in love with him or something?'
I laughed out loud.
'Keep dreaming,' I said, and chuckled again.

'You guys behave like you can't live without each other. Everyone thinks that the both of you are you know... Together,'

If looks could kill, they would be six feet under.

'God you guys!,' I said, and got off the couch, and stomped up the stairs to my room, thinking about a pair of honey brown eyes as I went.

Speak of the devil...

'Noah! What are you doing here!,' I yelled, clutching a pillow for safety.
'I'm staying over, ' he said casually, as if entering a girl's room, without her knowing was something he did everyday.

I didn't even bother to answer him, because it had now become a daily routine for us to crash at each other's houses.

'Hey Gab,' he said, and came closer to me.
'Your eyes are blue, like the ocean, and baby I'm lost at sea,' he whispered in my ear.

'Noah, do you have a fever, because I think you need to see a doctor,' I said, blushing slightly at what he said, and shivering at the close proximity of our bodies.

I walked away from him, and sat down on my bed.

'Will you grab my arm, so that I can tell my friends that I've been touched by an angel',? He asked me, and I almost spat out the water I was drinking, in haste to control my laughter.

I decided to play along with him, and waited for another one of his cheesy lines. 

'Gab, What's your sign ,' be asked me, wiggling his eyebrows.

' Do not enter, ' I said, sticking my tongue out at him.

'Don't your feet hurt, you've been running in my dreams all day,' he said, a smirk playing on his face.

'Well yes they do, because I've been chasing you in your nightmares,' I shot back, smiling victoriously.

'I thought happiness starts with H, why does mine start with U, ' he asked me innocently.

'Because you suck at spelling,' I said, in a sickly sweet tone.

'Can I have directions to your heart, ' he said in a mock hopeful voice, now extremely close to me. I could hear him breathe.

'Can my fist have direction to your face,' I said, smiling brightly.

' I think I can make you very happy, ' he sang, holding my waist.

'Yeah? Do so by leaving me alone,' I manage to choke out, before I let go. I couldn't hold it in anymore.

I sighed, and really laughed after a long time.
I looked up to see him laughing too, and I smiled, and sat there watching him laugh.

' JUST GO AND MAKE BABIES ALREADY,' Tiana groans, banging her head on the doorframe.

'N,' I start, unsure of what to say.
'Yeah doll,' he replies keeping his phone down.

'What's going on with your gang...thingy?' I asked him.

' It's complicated. I don't know what to do anymore. I mean, obviously I want to do something about all that happened, and this seems like the only way to do it...' he trailed off.

I could see that he didn't like talking about this, and he was waiting for this conversation to stop, but I had to talk to him.
'Don't do this Noah. Don't put yourself in danger on purpose. You have a choice, a chance to make the right decision. So use it. I can't live without knowing whether you'll be alive the next day...I just can't.
Please listen to me Noah, you're my best friend.

'Sometimes, people are oblivious to things happening around them. They are oblivious to the feelings and emotions floating everywhere', he said, a sad smile playing on his lips.

'What's that supposed to mean,' I asked him.

'Night doll,' he said, and lay down.
'Fine, be that way,' I groaned, and plopped down beside him.
I closed my eyes, and breathed in the lingering scent of mint flavoured bubble gum.
