Song: Sally's Song-Amy Lee
After school had ended I went out to my truck only to find Nick hanging upside down out of the passenger seat window, his girlfriend Jillian tickling him, Calli and Alex siting on top of the cab, and Whitney fist-pumping in the driver's side while she blasted Annabel by Alesana.
The only thing I questioned was how they unlocked and started it...but Whitney's family was Sicilian Mafia so I shouldn't think to hard about that.
"It's unanimous!" Shouted Calli. "Movie night at Bella's!"
I grinned, "junk food and Dead Silence here we come."
"Will the other dego be joining us?" Jillian asked, pinching Nick's nose with one hand and tickling him with the other.
"Well he lives with me so unless I tie him to a tree outside...yes." My heart warmed at the thought of spending time with the "family", Adrian especially, and my breath came a little faster.
"Oh, look," Calli grinned. "There he..." her grin disappeared and we all turned to look.
Adrian had been walking towards us, Michelle practically skipping beside him. He paused with her for a moment and before anything else could register in my brain she grabbed him by his jacket and kissed him.
I turned around so fast my hair flew out behind me. "Hop in everyone," I said in a scarily cheerful way. "We're going to Calli's instead."
Everyone was silent as I drove, and I knew I was frightening them. I wasn't speeding or yelling or crying or complaining. I just sat there and drove, Alesana singing woeful was the only real sign that something was wrong. Except my friends knew better. How could they not?
When we got to Calli's I thanked God that her parents weren't home, for she took one pitying look at me and went to the alcohol cabinet. "Straight?" she asked.
I merely nodded. I wasn't a big drinker unless it was a holiday, but being as numb as I was I knew I would need something to warm me up. Otherwise I might stay frozen in horror forever.
Why? I thought as I took the first sip. Why her?
Ten minutes and a few sips of rum later I was bawling in the middle of a group hug as Calli rubbed my back and Whitney wiped tears from under my eyes.
Not long after I was curled in a ball on the couch, utterly spent. I dozed, and they must have thought I was asleep because they started to discuss it.
Nick and Whitney seemed to be on the same page, "I'm going to fucking kill him. A guy hasn't been that important to her in years, and she only just realized it herself."
Calli was silent, but her hand ran through my mussed hair, gentle and soothing. "I think we should wait and see, something tells me that Adrian was caught off guard and never intended to kiss Michelle."
"For his sake I'd hope so," Alex muttered, squeezing Calli's other hand.
