Song: Ears to See Eyes to Hear (acoustic)-Sleeping with Sirens
My whole world shifted in one moment, the moment Adrian pulled harshly away from Michelle. He threw up his hands, obviously upset.
Then he turned, and the world that had only a moment ago shifted, stopped. He stared, his blue eyes wide and so full of fear, fear that I would somehow not accept what I had just witnessed. Adrian had rejected Michelle.
I stared back, my cheeks still wet. Suddenly, a slow smile formed on my face. A smile like I knew a wonderful secret.
Adrian had the same smile, but it was fast turning into a grin of pure happiness. Behind him, Michelle's eyes flicked from me to him, an expression like murder on her face.
She opened her mouth to throw a fit, but Adrian had already taken off. He grabbed my hand and we ran, we ran away from Michelle, we ran away from the lies, we ran away from everything that had ever kept us apart.
Through the blur, broken only by his strong hand in mine, I saw the flash of a Nikon camra, and Calli's grin as she captured the moment.
Adrian didn't let go of my hand the whole ride home, it was wonderful. He was the only person who's touch made me feel like I was safe, like there was no other place I'd rather be. It was like going home after being in a foreign country for months, there was nothing else to compare it to.
The air was colder than before as we stepped out and looking up into the sky I saw something rare.
Snow.
Fingers brushing, Adrian and I stood in the yard as the snow fell, collecting in our hair.
Adrian looked down at me snowflakes frosting his bangs, his eyes were full of such complete happiness that I blushed.
"I was waiting for that chance," he touched my hair, brushing snow. "To tell you that you are the only girl to make my stomach knot, to make me breathless, to make me feel weightless, today was the day...but when you saw, I was afraid that..."
"I knew you were," I stared into his eyes, "And that's why I believed you."
~~~
"Take a look," Calli shoved her camra under my nose.
Taking it, I studied the photo. Adrian and I, hand in hand, eyes bright and running. We were clear, but the landscape was a blur, it was a very pretty picture.
I smiled, "I saw you take this."
She grinned, "so...tell me everything!"
I laughed, light hearted, and told her.
Adrian and I spent the afternoon on the couch, in front of a roaring fire, and watched the snow fall outside. He had pulled me close to him, and I fell asleep with my head on his shoulder, his fingers combing through my hair...
"He didn't kiss you!?" Nick exclaimed...I have no idea where he came from-he doesn't even have this class with us.
"Well duh he didn't kiss her," Whitney rolled her eyes, "he's being careful and taking it slow. I mean come on, they went from being really good friends to a couple, he obviously doesn't want to hurt their friendship by screwing it up."
I smiled at them all, listening to the banter as Nick and Whit went back and forth.
I couldn't wait to spend another afternoon with Adrian.
