"Ridiculous, freaking rediculous," Whitney nudged me, "I mean, just look at them all."
I hadn't been paying much attention to anything, because I was otherwise occupied with putting seasoning on my goldfish while I listened to Calli and Nick bicker with mild amusement.
Sighing, I looked up, just because I hadn't been paying attention didn't mean I was oblivious.
A few tables over Adrian sat surrounded by a horde of girls, not just any girls either, the man-eating kind were constantly giggling and flipping their hair and giving girls like me the stank eye. A few of the football and soccer players were also over there, but I doubted they would be able to get past the girls.
Through it all Adrian lounged on the table like it was a lazyboy recliner, seemingly used to be fussed over and obviously enjoying the attention.
Suddenly, he looked up and his piercing blue eyes caught mine. He smirked and wiggled his fingers at me.
I flipped him the bird.
"Jesus, Belle, is he really that much of an asshole?" Calli asked.
I, very slowly, raised one eyebrow.
Calli laughed, "he'll learn not to mess with you after a while."
"I feel so loved you guys, I held up my now black and blue wrist, you have no idea."
Nick frowned, "I didn't know you got that, what happeneed?"
"He tripped me," I growled.
"For some reason I have a good feeling about this guy," Calli grinned, and Whitney agreed with her.
"You're all crazy!" I threw my hands up and turned to Alex. "Please tell me you don't agree with them." I trusted Alex to hate Adrian, I mean, they were complete opposites.
Alex shook his head, "he doesn't seem to bad to me."
I groaned and slammed my fist down on the table, forgetting my wrist. "Shit, Mary mother of god, dammit that hurts!"
All four of them shook their heads at me. "She never gets worked up over a guy," Whitney noted, wiggling her eyebrows.
Thank god the bell rang, I had just about had it with all of them. They were making fun of me because they knew Adrian was out of my league and were trying to bait me into caring about it. But they knew I didn't believe I had the ability to love someone in that way, so why try?
Maybe they were just tired of seeing me so lonely. As alone as I felt, I didn't want to be with anyone either...it was complicated.
