#2 The Sun

I travel the skies everyday,
I colour this world all the way.
From the tallest peaks to deepest valleys,
I shed down light to every nook and alley.

For I am the sun, its my task,
In my light everyone bask.
No holidays for me, for it is a diagrace,
For i love this never-ending race.

Race with the moon and the stars too,
Always fall short in chasing these two.
We race everyday throughout the skies,
But always are on earth's opposite sides.

My light, my shine overwhelm completely,
The beauty of the night, which I can never see.
I am the definition of happy days and beatific smiles,
I live in happiness and in new sapling's shine.

All I have is one wish, to see my rival,
The jewel of night sky, moon of the people.
The orb I have been chasing for so long,
Only hearing about it, never seen it at all.

Sleepy nocturnal birds whisper about it,
Who go to sleep as I reach my peak.
So long to wish to meet, the cause of my day dreams,
They say my skin is fiery, as opposed to its milky cream.

The sky colours up as we slowly meet,
As eclipse strikes, each other we greet.
But its only glimpse , a fleeting glance,
And everything slowly falls in a trance.

The brief moment quells my hunger,
For decades to come, I won't linger.
The race continues, for it is limitless.
Chasing the moon and stars through the vast emptiness.
