#39 Done Being Damsel

Look, at the vacant room,

Heralding the inevitable doom.

Look, at her vacant eyes,

Devoid of spirit and unable to rise.

Look, at the way fists are clenched,

When her rightful freedom was wrenched.

Look, at the deteremined steps,

Walking with purpose, her mind set.

Look, at the upturned chin,

No unsaid regret paints her skin.

Look, at the alert mind,

Hidden behind her speech so kind.

Look, at the way she is no longer meek,

She has enough of being a damsel and weak.

Look, at the straight back,

Shoulders behind, no weight pulls them off track.

Look, at the steady voice,

Volume strong and loud and nice.

Look, at this beautiful sight,

When damsel puts on her armour right.

Look, at her transformation,

From distressed damsel to knight in platinum.

Look, and be inspired and entranced,

For metamorphosis happens only once.

Many strong, determined and inspirational women are a part of my life, a fact of which I'm very proud of. These women wear their heart on sleeve, yet they allowed no mud to mar their golden cuffs (terrible analogy, I know). They teach me what it is to be strong, to smile when you're sad and handle anger with grace and calm.
Now, tell me about inspirational women in your lives and what it is that you find so influential about them.
