#17 Imprint

We laced them tightly,
The laces of our shoe
Hands entwined in each other,
We ran down the road too.

Your palm was coarse,
And fingers too long
Yet we managed,
To keep a firm grip all along.

My legs too short,
To stay with your long strides
So you carried me,
And I loved those shoulder-rides.

We create footprints in the sand,
And imprints on the heart,
You warm smile reminds me
Of days when worries were naught.

Your eyes always held,
That calm reassurance,
You were the center, the eye,
Of the storm that was my adolescence.

Always had happiness to share,
Even if fatigue covered your face
You are my comfort,
You taught me love and grace.

Now years later ahead,
From shoulder-rides to wordly advice
Your tired back is now held by pillows,
But eyes still hold the same essence.

My hand covers yours,
Fingers still long and coarse
I gently squeeze them,
I'm here for you, for better or worse.

Your is imprint etched deeply,
On the walls of my mind
Your wishes I read clearly,
In the darkness of your eyes, they shined.

It's difficult to say goodbye,
As I pry my hand away from you
With a parting kiss on the cheek,
I watch till your lips turn blue.

Hello everyone! The words came easily while writing this little piece, but unfortunately I got stuck when I tried to think up a title.😢
