#24 An Oddity

He watched her, making a fool of herself,
Wearing that flower crown and attaching ears like that of an elf.

Fascinated, he observed, (because he does not stare),
Her face light up in joy, her expression so rare.

She was an engima, with no clues to solve,
She was fearless, in her own way, conforming to no one at all.

Because she was not, black or white, he knew now,
She was a riot of colours ( like that abstract painting which he saw).

Mystical markings and oddities hang off her arms,
They are the canvas to her thoughts and to her ideas.

He was a witness, to her strange dance in the rain,
And all the people poking fun at her, again and again.

But what he saw was the delight in her eyes,
As she opened her heart and welcomed the grey skies.

She was an oddity, he inferred (after hours of watching her),
An rarity in the society, the only one who was courageous.

She was not afraid, being her selfhood,
He marvelled her ability to be a child in adulthood.

He envied her mind, in all its chaotic stability,
He wished for a break from his own reality.

Because her reality was the bright rainbow,
As opposed to his mundane monochrome.

So he jumped the fence, took a risk,
Joined her to dance in the rain and in the mist.

And so the oddity and reality touched for a moment,
Creating a magic that basked in their enjoyment.
