#47 Fear

20 8 11

Mother said come back home
when darkness descends,
There were monsters that ate little girls
just around the bend.

Father said to call him when
travelling late hours,
There were creatures foul that won't hurt if you came by car.

Brother said be careful, because
that's what brothers do,
But the air became alive
at night with a fantastic view.

All the sparking stars like glass
when the sky is clean,
Owls calling out on
the beauty that's rarely seen.

The air making leaves dance
and sing with a tenacity quiet,
A performance which is undermined
in daylight's sounds and sights.

All this beauty in camouflaged ,
all because we refused to see,
Shrouded by evils of night,
creatures of damnable decree.

The night is nothing to fear,
the dusk is just another side to dawn,
Welcome the night
like it is one of our own.

Why fear the wild animals and beasts
that roam in the night?
When the thing to fear the most is
minds of those with no moral right.

We work with people
with their ethics abandoned,
We talk and laugh with the corrupt
minds and behaviour flawed.

We never shied away from them,
we never shunned them,
So why abstain a part of
nature's graceful gem?

So the next time you roam
on the streets of eventide,
Fear the people, not the beasts,
because they have a lot to hide.

Word of caution:
This doesn't mean that we can roam the streets freely at night! Safety comes first!
But also, don't sit at home, cowering in fear , it means to be cautious. Be ready and prepared , to not compromise on our wishes because of few ill meaning people.
