#6 The rain

I hold an umbrella to shelter myself,
But the rain still manages to crack my defenses.
This is a game as old as time,
I won't be drenched, this victory is mine.

I turn my umbrella towards the rain,
Block the water that attacks my face.
Fogs up my glasses and runs down my nose,
I swipe it away and hold the umbrella close.

This is a feud four fortnights long,
When the rain showering down is very strong.
I defend, rain attacks, its back and forth,
Until the droplets cover the road.

Oh, this rain, is a nuisance really,
To my clean clothes and my dry jewellery.
Rain may help thousands of people,
But all it does is wage a war on city people.

So I hold my umbrella upright,
I won't be deterred by the downpour tonight.
I'll go my way, opposing the water,
Let the rain come, I won't be drenched tonight!
