"Sing something." Kendell said as he wrapped an arm around Yulissa.

"Naw. I don't wanna sing today." I shook my head.

"Me either." Jari shook her head.

"I wanna sing." Prince said softly. He's been kind of off all day.

"What you wanna sing, Prince?" Prod asked.

"Papa Was a Rollin' Stone by The Temptations." Prince gave me a look.

"Why?" Everyone asked.

"Found out my dad died September third." Prince said.

"Ma'Kayla's birthday." Juno whispered.

"Yup. The nigga was a good bastard, ya know. Never stayed one place too long. He fucked who he wanted as he pleased. That's how I'm here." Prince spat.

"Man, fuck him. He missed out on a spiffy, trendy, moonwalking misfit nigga like you." Roc patted his shoulder.

I just gave Prince a look and he nodded, knowing we'd talking about everything later.

The day was fast enough, we were home and in my studio in what felt like minutes.

"Ready?" Juno asked all of us as we stood in the giant booth.

"Yeah." Prince nodded.

I started playing my bass as Jari played guitar, Isis played drums, Brittany played violin, and Juno pressed a button for trumpets and any other instruments we couldn't play at the moment. Juno also recored everything.

"[Prince:]
It was the third of September.
That day I'll always remember, yes I will.
'Cause that was the day that my daddy died.
I never got a chance to see him.
Never heard nothing but bad things about him. Mama, I'm depending on you, tell me the truth.

[All:]
And Mama just hung her head and said,
"Son, Papa was a rolling stone.
Wherever he laid his hat was his home.
(And when he died) All he left us was alone." "Papa was a rolling stone, my son.
Wherever he laid his hat was his home.
(And when he died) All he left us was alone."

Well, well.

[Prince:]
Hey Mama, is it true what they say,
That Papa never worked a day in his life?

[Prodigy:]
And Mama, bad talk going around town
Saying that Papa had three outside children and another wife.
And that ain't right.

[Prince:]
Heard some talk about Papa doing some store front preaching.
Talkin about saving souls and all the time leeching.
Dealing in debt and stealing in the name of the Lord.

[All:]
Mama just hung her head and said,
"Papa was a rolling stone, my son.
Wherever he laid his hat was his home.
(And when he died) All he left us was alone." "Hey, Papa was a rolling stone.
Wherever he laid his hat was his home.
(And when he died) All he left us was alone."

Uh!

[Roc:]
Hey Mama, I heard Papa call himself a jack of all trade.
Tell me is that what sent Papato an early grave?
Folk say Papa would beg, borrow, steal to pay his bill.

[Ray:]
Hey Mama, folk say that Papa was never much on thinking.
Spent most of his time chasing women and drinking.
Mama, I'm depending on you to tell me the truth.

[All:]
Mama looked up with a tear in her eye and said, "Son, Papa was a rolling stone.
(Well,well, well,well)
Wherever he laid his hat was his home.
(And when he died) All he left us was alone." "Papa was a rolling stone.
Wherever he laid his hat was his home.
(And when he died) All he left us was alone."

"I said, Papa was a rolling stone.
Wherever he laid his hat was his home.
(And when he died) All he left us was alone."

The girls and I continued to play as the boys clapped until Juno stopped recording. We stepped out of the booth and wanted to watch the video, but Prince just walked out of the studio.

"I got him." I said and followed him out.

I found Prince outside on the back porch with a jacket on. I grabbed a blanket from the side lik people do on TV and walked over to him.

"Wanna talk about it?" I asked as I wrapped some of the blanket around him.

"Not really." He sighed as he leaned on me.

"Without communication a relationship can't flourish." I said and he chuckled softly.

"Fine." He let out a big breath. "I know I never mer him, but I wish I had. Just for one moment. To look him in his damn eye and tell him how much of a fucked up man he is and how my mom and I suffered trying to make ends meet."

"And did you tell Teresa this?" I asked.

"Yeah. She said she understood. She sent me a picture of him. Wanna see?" Prince wiped his nose before pulling out his phone and showing me his father.

Their physical appearance was uncanny. Prince and his father looked just alike.

"Uh. Wow." I gasped.

"Yeah. Just alike right?" He chuckled and took his phone. "His name was Emmanuel Perez. He has two other kids. Emmanuel Perez Jr and Esther Perez."

"Have you contacted them?" I asked, putting a hand into his hair.

"Not yet, but I will. I've found their Instagrams and Twitters." He said.

"And that's the place to start. Did they follow you back on Twitter? Instagram?"

"I didn't exactly follow them. I just have their accounts." Prince coughed.

"Okay. Stop learning how to stalk from Isis." I laughed. "Now, I'll follow them for you, okay? I'll talk to them for a little bit. Then you follow and talk to them, okay?"

"Thank you, mi amor." Prince hugged me. "I don't know what I'd do without you."

"You'd suck without me." I said and he laughed. "Let's go inside before we get hypothermia."

"Okay." He picked me up and carried me to my room, where he laid down with me. "I don't wanna be alone."

"You're not. You have me." I kissed his cheek as I played with his hair. "You have me."

We slowly fell asleep.
