Chapter 42- Artemis and Juno's 16th Birthday

Artemis

"Where are we going? I thought we were going to Houston?" I asked as I was on a tour bus with Prince, Juno, Ray, and Brittany.

"We are. We always go this way, babe." Prince said as he looked at his phone.

"No. We don't. We're heading in a whole different direction." Juno said.

"You two are just sleepy. You should go to sleep." Brittany suggested.

"Yeah. I guess so." Juno and I said wearily. I laid my head down in Prince's lap as Juno went to the bunks.

Prince

I looked down in my lap to see Artemis was sound sleep. I guess she really was tired.

"They started to notice." Ray whispered after he came from the back of the bus by the bunks to make sure Juno was sleep.

"Yeah. We need to work on that. They can't know what we're planning until tomorrow. Artemis will hate me for lying to her." I laughed softly as I played with her hair. She smiled in her sleep.

"Yeah, but she'll be happy. So when Myles plays Come On Eileen, we need you to have Artemis and Juno on the floor to do their birthday dance. You know they love that song. The floor will be cleared for them and Carter will help y'all get through everyone. Ciara said she and Future will be there, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Drake and Nicki, Usher said he might swing by along with Justin-- don't know about him though. Oh and don't forget all of our friends will be there. Jacob said he'll have Juno show off her beats for everyone at one point for silly freestyles by the guests." Brittany said as she looked at her notes in her phone. She, Isis, and Jari put this whole party together without most of our help.

"That sounds cool. But how do we get then to go to a teen club in New Orleans without then knowing?" I asked.

"Don't worry. The girls and I have this all planned out." Brittany smiled, her dimples showing.

"I love when you smile, babe. You're dimples are so cute." Ray kissed Brittany's cheek.

My eyebrows scrunched together. If Artemis was awake she would do the same thing. I don't know, but Ray must have a thing for light skin girls with deep dimples.

It was silent for thirty minutes as we all were in our thoughts. Artemis moved around in my lap and started muttering things with a frown on her face.

"Ma...I'm sorry...wasn't there for your birthday...Daddy, no..I'm sorry...Ma'Kayla...I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Artemis started crying, shaking, and screaming. I violently shook her awake.

"Artemis, are you okay?" I asked as she wrapped her arms around me and cried into my neck.

"Oh God." She whimpered into my neck.

"Artemis, what's wrong?" Ray asked.

"I wanna go home." Artemis sobbed. I rubbed her back.

"You're going home in two months, sweetheart." I sighed.

"No, I wanna go home now." She cried.

"Baby, we still have tour. Do you wanna talk about your dream." I rubbed her back soothingly.

"I walked through the door of my house. I was happy to be home, but everyone else wasn't. They were upset and angry at me for missing their birthday and the holidays and so much more. They hated me." Artemis sobbed. "I wanna go home."

"They don't hate you, Artty. They never could." Brittany said.

"But we've missed so much. Christan called me to say Ma'Kayla was going to school in August. We're gonna be on the second leg of tour then. I don't wanna miss that. I already missed so much of everything." Artemis wiped her face.
