Chapter Forty Six

(Miracles in December)

Kyungsoo's POV:

The smell of the room service food woke me up. Mother was putting the plates of food on a small table. I silently groan as I rub the sleep out of my eyes. Kai right to the left side of the bed, was still sleeping soundlessly.

Gently, I swoosh up into a sitting position. My stomach started grumbling and my taste buds started to make my mouth to water. It was urging me to get food so that flavor would satisfy its cravings.

"What time is it?" I groan again, fully opening my eyes.

"It's noon. Didn't want to wake both of you up." Mother hands me a glass of water and my prenatal vitamin pill. I take the pill from her and chug it with the glass of water.

"We're leaving at two in the afternoon. The place is not to far from here." She smiles sweetly at me while she takes the glass of water from me and replaces it with orange juice. She places a plate of a fruit salad consisting of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, mango, and grapes with a sprinkle of Quinoa.

"Is dad up?" Mother nods, sitting herself at the edge of the bed.

"Your father is a little sad right now. This whole trip to Palm Springs brings a lot of memories from his childhood. Your great grandmother was like his mom so revisiting this place after a long time is a little heart braking for him."

"I understand. I wish I've met her though. Dad has never been opened up to his childhood or extended family. I'm just lucky I know some cousins." I take a bite of a raspberry.

"Well your father had a hard life. He doesn't want his kids to be ashamed of him."

"I don't think his life would be that shameful, I mean I practically disappointed him. He had such high expectations from me and I let him down," I retort with a sigh.

"You are not a shame to your father. Of course, we are disappointed in you. But we love you and these two grandchildren that you are given me," she beams, her hand gently laying on my bump. "Is the best thing that you could ever give me. I'm glad that you married Kai; someone like him is rare to find. My dear son, you found yourself a jewel."

"I did, didn't I?" She smiles, caressing my cheek.

"That was the nicest thing I've heard you say mom." Baekhyun was up, his hair out of place and his face pressed with marks from the pillow.

"Well that goes with you as well Baekhyun. You aren't fooling me. Been fooled once but a second time I will not."

"What do you mean?" Baekhyun laughs nervously.

"Don't act dumb with me Bekhyun, I know you're pregnant." Baekhyun's face turns white, freezing himself in the spot.

"Come sit next to me." Mother motions Baekhyun to sit on the bed as well. I shift myself to the very back so that my back is pressed with the wall.

"I want you to know that I'm here for you. I love you as if you're my own flesh and blood. Your father (Mr. Kim) is going to be disappointed in you like he was with Kyungsoo, but he loves you no matter what." Mother grips Baekhyun's wrists, her face concerned and affectionate towards him. Baekhyun nods, his tears spilling out of him.

"We all love you, Baekhyun. Kara, father, mother, Kai, Chanyeol, and I. Even our friends; we are all family." I scoot over him and lay my head on his shoulder, my hand pressing on his invisible baby bump.

"Thank you. Really," he quivers, letting more tears out.

We stayed like that, the three of us, sitting close to each other while we let Baekhyun cry his tears out. It felt like we had stayed there for about an a hour, but in reality, it was more like ten. Mother had left to get herself ready. She told us they would pick us up in about an hour.
