Everyone was happy, Sam and Emily especially, they were eventually starting their own family and nobody deserved it more than them, they would be the best parents ever, everyone was not only excited for them but excited to welcome a new pack member, he/she will be the fourth pack baby, Harry was the first followed by Jake's twins; Jess and Leigh. We had decided to have a celebratory bonfire in order to celebrate their news everyone who had anything to do the pack was there;
Billy and Tiffany, Quil, Mom and Charlie (who know knows of the legends), Sam and Emily, Jared and Kim, Jake, Jade, the twins and Harry, Quil and Claire, Embry and Leah, Collin and Evie, Seth and Nessie, Brady, John, Liam, David, Alexandro, Paul and myself.
No matter how many times I heard the legends I always was intrigued in them, I would never tire of hearing the stories of our tribe, of the magic within our blood. They were the protectors of the reservation, they were my protectors, that's what it felt like, I was still scared after the whole Henry thing but it had only been a week, but the pack always took my mind away from all the bad memories, they helped me through my day, the only time it didn't go away was at night, he still appeared in my nightmares so much that Paul stayed with me some nights, Harry was living with Jake until the nightmares stop it wouldn't be good for him to wake up to his Mom screaming out in fear so we decided it would be best if he stayed with Jake for a while. I would miss my little boy so much even if I did see almost every other day.
I was thankful that there wasn't any awkwardness between Paul and I since the night we kissed, I had thought about him a lot this past week, he was always there for me helping and supporting me through the bad times. I loved the way his eyebrow raised as he smirked, and the way his laughter reached his eyes when he found something funny, I was falling in love with my best friend of twenty-four years. I love Paul Lahote. I ended up missing the majority of the legends as I got lost in my thoughts about Paul so much I hadn't realized Paul was sat beside me as the pack played football on the beach, the elders watching on from the other side of the fire. The pack was being carful as they played, not tackling one another properly due to Harry, Jess and Leigh joining in with them, everyone was happy, I was thankful we had one another.
"Hey Pauly," I said as I turned to face Paul looking into his eyes, he looked nervous "hey M, you know I'm in love with you right" he said more as a statement than a question, I simply just nodded wanted to know where he was taking this, "and you know I could imprint at any time?" he carried on, to which I nodded again with a slight sadness, "but what if I said I wanted to be more than just your best friend M" he finished. "Paul, look at me" I started waiting for him to face me again, when he did I took his face in both of my hands "Paul, I know you could imprint but if we want to be happy in life we have to take risks... what I'm trying to say is I'd happily take that risk to be with you, I have fallen in love with you Paul, I don't want to waste any more time without you. I know if you did imprint you would tell me before you did anything and if that happens I would let you be happy Paul" as I finished what I was saying he leant down placing his hands around the back of my head and neck pulling me in for a kiss. There was something there between Paul and I, no one had given me the rush of butterflies in my stomach like Paul does, eventually we pulled away gasping for air. "Mia, will you be my girlfriend?" Paul asked his eyes full of hope and a glint of wanting, my response was simply kissing him once again, "does that answer your question babe" I said as I pulled away again.
The pack were still playing football, they were a fair distance from the fire, almost on the opposite end of the beach, mom, Charlie, Billy, Tiffany and Old Quil had all left around half an hour ago. Me and Paul hadn't moved, we sat next to the fire cuddled up, his arm around my shoulder as I leant into his chest. Both of us with huge grins on our face as we sat there in a comfortable silence, I hadn't seen that grin on Paul's face since we were in England. I know it seems bad jumping from the relationship I was in a week ago to a new one with Paul in the space of a week but things with Paul were different, he made me feel safe, I trusted him with my life, he wasn't someone I didn't know well, we had been best friends for 24 years and we knew everything about each other. We decided to go home early so bid our goodbyes to the pack, we were both exhausted so decided to head to bed, we decided to stay in Paul's room simply because its bigger and on another note, it was on the opposite side of the house to Collin's room.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I woke up refreshed that morning, I had slept through the night without one nightmare, however Paul wasn't in bed when I woke up but then remember he was on the early at his shops, he didn't really phase much anymore not even patrols, I don't know why, I guess I'll have to ask him. I decided I could get some housework done whilst everyone was out, Collin hadn't come home last night as when I walked past his room his bed was still made, I guess he stayed with Evie or stayed over at Brady's.
Within three hours, the whole upstairs of the house was clean, all the bedrooms and bathrooms had been vacuumed and cleaned. I had cleaned the kitchen and was making a start on the sitting room, I had my Spotify blasting on, currently Closer by the Chainsmokers on, I was singing and dancing along to the music as I cleaned but I almost jumped out of my skin as I heard laughing behind me, turning around I saw Paul stood at the door laughing as he watched me "don't stop on my account M" he said with a smirk, "how long have you been stood there?" I questioned, "the whole song babe, but I'll let you know a secret... I found that extremely hot" he said whispering the last part in my eye sending goosebumps down my spine, the things he did to me. He kissed my cheek before heading off into the house somewhere whilst I finished cleaning.
Once I finished cleaning I took a shower before changing into a oversize woolen jumper with a pair of black leggings and some fluffy socks, I brushed my hair before deciding to let it dry naturally. I headed to Paul's room to find him but he wasn't there, instead I carried on downstairs hearing the slight hum of music now on, Paul was in the kitchen making us both some lunch. "Looks good babe" I said as I wrapped my arms around his waist, "thanks gorgeous, the pack is coming over later I hope that's ok, we can get take out because I don't want you cooking because I want to spend the rest of the day cuddling with you" he said. I simply smiled and hoisted myself up onto the countertop beside where he was making lunch. Once he had finished making the food, he came and stood in front of me leaning down to kiss me as I wrapped my arms around his neck and legs around his back deepening the kiss slightly, this is one of the things I loved about Paul, one minute he could be cute, the next sexy, the next angry and then he could be overprotective or all smirky.
The day passed by quickly, we didn't do much we watched all kinds of films, the last one ended at a perfect time as the pack had started to turn up, we leave the door open so they are able to just walk in so me and Paul didn't have to move to let them in. We were currently lay on the couch, I was lay between Paul's legs with my head on his chest, this wasn't unusual for us so the pack didn't question it, they didn't know that me and Paul were now a couple seeing as they were too far away to hear our conversation last night. I was just curious as to why the pack were having a meeting, no leeches had been passing through so what was the need to call a meeting?
