“Jessica!” my mom yelled from the second floor. I sighed and pulled myself up from the couch. “Jess!”
“I’m coming!” I called back. When I reached her room I saw her lying in bed with a box of tissues next to her. She looked like a complete mess. “Mom, aren’t you supposed to be picking up Aria right now for the concert?”
“That’s what I called you up here for. I need you to take her,” she said, releasing a sneeze. My eyes widened.
“Seriously?!”
“No one else is as educated about her illness as you are. And you qualify as an adult since you’re over eighteen. I really need you to do this for your sister. She’ll be crushed if she can’t go,” she explained. I clenched my teeth. I really had no choice in this.
“Fine,” I muttered. “I’ll take her.”

“Hey,” I said, walking into the familiar hospital room that my sister had been staying in for the past several weeks. She was already set to go in her wheelchair.
“I thought Mom was taking me,” she said, clearly confused. I smiled.
“Yeah, but she’s sick. So you’re stuck with me.”
She grinned. “I’m okay with that.”
“Good. Put this on,” I said, tossing her a shopping bag with a shirt inside. She took it out to reveal the One Direction tee that I had picked up on the way. All five of their faces were on it. “You have to arrive in style,” I informed, unzipping my coat to reveal the matching top I was currently sporting.
She smiled and quickly changed. “I thought you weren’t a fan.”
“Oh, I’m not. This is all for you. Trust me.”
“Well, thank you. I appreciate it,” she said as I wheeled her down the hall. I checked her out of the hospital and helped her into the car. “I’m really excited!” she squealed.
“I would hope so,” I said with a smile as I pulled out onto the road. I figured that night would be long and dreadful. I simply had to remind myself that it was all for Aria. This was her wish, the final thing she wanted. It was my job to make it enjoyable for her. It was the least that I could do.

“How much longer until it begins?” she asked eagerly.
“Not too long. It’s almost seven,” I told her.
Sure enough just as those words left my mouth the room went dark, and the screams echoed through my ears. The music began and the five familiar boys entered the stage looking pumped up and ready for a night of entertaining.
