The weekend had passed and everyone had gotten the first taste of Thanksgiving break. The party was long over, and Chuck and Mrs. Shurley had given their You're Grounded for a Week, Balthazar speech.

Currently, Gabriel was in the car with Lucifer and Cas (who was officially dating Dean, by the way), on his way to the Winchester house to pick up Sam and Dean to go to the Thanksgiving Carnival.

When they arrived at the house, Gabriel leaped out of the car, closed followed by Cas. They rushed up to the door and rang the doorbell.

The ding echoed through the house, making it seem empty and lifeless.

Seconds later, Dean opened the door. Sam was right behind him. And beyond the two brothers was a empty house.

No furniture. No rugs. No decorations. No anything.

It was empty.

"Wha-" Gabriel started to ask, before Cas cut him off.

"What happened to all your stuff?"

Dean turned around and looked at Sam, who was blushing. "I thought you told them!" Dean exclaimed angrily.

"I- sort of- didn't." Sam said, looking at the ground.

"Tell us what?" Cas and Gabe asked together.

Dean turned back to the Novaks. "We're moving."

"WHAT?!" Gabriel yelled.

"When?" Cas said, more calmly.

"Two days." Sam supplied. "The day before Thanksgiving."

"But- but-" Gabe was at loss for words.

"Where?" Cas asked.

"I'm going to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Up with our uncle Bobby." Sam said from behind Dean.

"I'm going to get an apartment in town." Dean said.

"W-why?" Gabriel choked out.

Sam shrugged.

"Our dad had to make a long-distance business trip. He won't need the house. I won't need it. Sam's gotta have someone to make sure he gets some kind of an upbringing."

"Why can't you?!" Gabriel demanded to Dean.

Dean shrugged. "I don't know. Dad doesn't think I'll do a good enough job."

No one had an answer for that. They just sat in silence, no one able to form words.

Gabriel was the most hard-hit. He looked like someone had just punched him in the gut.

Cas just looked wistful. More for Gabe's sake then his own.

Dean was staring at the ground, mad at himself that he had broke the news so bluntly.

Sam was staring at Gabriel, no emotion on his face.

"I'm sorry." Sam whispered.

"Sorry?" Cas asked. "What for?"

"Not telling you guys sooner."

Gabriel shrugged. Cas didn't say anything. Dean was still transfixed on his shoes.

Lucifer beeped the horn on the car.

"C'mon, ladies! We're burning daylight!" He yelled.

"We'd better go." Cas announced. He seemed to be the only one able to form sentences besides Sam.

Silently, the four boys made their way to Lucifer's car. They climbed in, not saying a word, wrapped up in their own thoughts.

"Okay, what happened?" Lucifer asked. "What did I miss? Did the ship sink? Did both ships sink?"

Cas shook his head. "No. Nothing like that."

"Sam's moving away." Gabriel said, using Sam's actual name for the first time in ever.

"What?!" Lucifer reared on Sam. "So the ship's doomed to hit an iceberg and sink?"

Sam shrugged. "I guess."

"Oh." Lucifer was quiet for a while, his face blank.

Dean hit the radio knob. Kids in Love by Mayday Parade came on. How ironically funny that this song just came on as the author wrote this chapter.

"Closed lips, she was never one to kiss and tell

"Those trips in the summer never went so well

"Young love was such dumb love

"Call it what you want it was still enough

"And you're still out of my reach

"And you're still all of the things

"That I want in my life

"How could I ask you to leave me?"

Dean turned the radio up.

"And we were just kids in love

"The summer was full of mistakes we wouldn't learn from

"The first kiss stole the breath from my lips

"Why did the last one tear us apart?"

Sam looked at Gabriel. Then he leaned in and hugged him, not wanting to ever let go. "I'm so sorry, Gabe."

Gabriel hugged back, a single cinematic tear rolling down his cheek. "'S okay, Sammy."

Sam said nothing and he buried his face in Gabriel's golden hair. "I'm so, so sorry."

In the background, Lucifer was softly singing something about OTPs and ships and something.

Dean was just rolling his eyes. "Can was stop this chick-flick moment?"

Sam chuckled into Gabriel's hair.

Cas snorted from the corner of the car.

Gabriel pulled away, blushing. He turned to the front of the car.

"So... are we going?" Gabriel asked.

"Sure." Lucifer put his foot on the gas, driving away from the ugly townhouse.
