3: Lucifer's Intervention

Sam bumped into Lucifer later that day. In fact, Lucifer bumped into him.

They were in a dining hall. It was crowded with the late lunch rush, students hurrying to get some food before 2 PM classes.

Kevin was still going on about the girl from his Lit class. Apparently she also played the violin or something. He wasn't really paying attention.

"Hey! Moose!" Kevin snapped his finger in front of Sam's nose. "Weren't you paying attention."

"No."

"I said, there's a really cute girl in my Psych class."

"Mmmhmmm."

"Her name's Jess-"

Sam's eyebrows shot up. "Jess? Like Jess from Lawrence Jess? Jessica Mills?"

"Not that one. I think her name's Jess Moore or something."

"Oh." Sam looked back down at the table.

Kevin snapped his fingers again. "Sam, you okay?"

"I'm fine."

"No, you're not."

"Seriously, Kevin, I'm fine."

"I know my Moose, and you're not fine."

Across the room, a certain devil's ears perked up at the word 'moose'.

"I'm. Fine."

Kevin sighed. "Whatever you say, the Sam."

Walking towards the two boys, the same devil smiled to himself and pulled out his phone.

They were one hour to Bobby's house when Cas's phone buzzed.

"Who is it?" Gabriel asked.

"Lucifer." Cas accepted the call and put the phone up to his ear. "What do you want, asshole?"

Silence.

Then, "What?!" Cas yelled, "Don't be playing tricks with me, Lucifer-"

More silence.

"There's no way."

"What? What's he saying?" Gabriel called, grabbing for the phone.

Cas pulled away, his eyes narrowed, as he listened intensly to whatever Lucifer was saying.

"If you're fucking with me, Lucifer, I swear-"

He bit on his bottom lip, eyes dancing across the car.

"God damn, really? I can't believe it. Yeah, see you soon. Yeah, I love you or something."

Cas turned his phone off, leaning back on the headrest.

"What did he say?!" Gabriel yelled.

"Sam's not at Bobby's house anymore."

"WHAT?!" Now it was Dean's turn to yell.

"He's at Stanford with Lucifer."

"Stanford?" Gabriel's brows knit together.

"He didn't tell me that! God, I'm going to kill him!"
