Gabriel woke up with a pain on top of his chest.

Today was the day Sam was leaving.

The realization hit him like a blow to the chest as he sat up. Blinking sleep out of his eyes, he swung his arm across his bed and grabbed his phone.

The home screen was a page of texts from Sam.

Sam: Hey

Sam: Gabe

Sam: Listen, Gabe, I need to see you

Sam: Preferably before 2

Sam: We're leaving at 2

Gabe checked the clock. It was 10:23. He almost leaped out of bed.

Texting furiously, he hurried to throw on pants and a shirt.

Gabriel: I'm on my way to your house

It took Sam a few minutes to reply.

Sam: Don't. There's nothing here. It weird.

Sam: I'll come over to your house

Gabriel: Okay.

Gabriel opened his door, stumbling out. He went to the kitchen, smelling some sort of pancake cooking.

Hester was cooking rainbow-colored chocolate chip pancakes. Anna was helping.

Gabriel sat down at the dinner table. "Hey, Hess, it's okay if Sam comes over, right?"

Hester flipped a pancake over. "Right, Sam. Today's the day, right?"

"How do you know?" Gabriel asked.

"Luce told me."

"Oh." Gabriel sighed.

"Yeah. You're gonna be alright?"

Gabriel shrugged. "Probably not."

Cas walked into the room and sat down on a chair, slightly wincing.

Hester smirked. "You and Dean did the do, didn't you?"

Cas blushed and stammered. "No- no- of course not."

Hester waved the spatula. "Whatever you say, Cassie."

Cas blushed again.

The doorbell rang. Both Cas and Gabe bolted up to get it.

Sam and Dean were both standing in the doorway. Gabe opened the door.

"Heya, Sammy." Gabe said.

"Hi, Gabe."

"Hey, Dean." Cas said from behind Gabe.

"Hiya, Cas."

The four said nothing for a few minutes, none of them wanting to say the obvious.

Lucifer called from the kitchen, since he had just woken up. "Hey, lovebirds!" He yelled. "Get in here! We have rainbow pancakes!"

Cas grabbed Dean's hand and led him into the house. Gabriel took Sam's hand, but didn't move. He blinked twice, forcing tears back in.

"Sam." Gabriel said.

"Gabriel." Sam said quietly.

"Can we not do this touchy-feely stuff until later?"

"Sure."

"Pancakes?"

"Yes."

Gabriel led Sam into the kitchen. The two grabbed plates and pancakes, then sat down at the table with Cas, Dean, and Lucifer.
