"Ariel he's on his way to Ireland."
"How do you know." I handed her the letter.
"It's the only possibility." I grabbed the book off of the bed. You know, the mermaid book. I opened it to a page about famous mer folk.
Over the centuries there have been many famous mer folk. There are some that are really famous though. This chapter will cover the top four. The first one is named Libra Williams. She had traded her fins for feet just to marry the mayor of Swan Cove. She had a son named Daniel Williams and her family was extremely successful. She also helped Graceland Rivers and Oceania Jenkins, two other human mers ban Monica from the sea. Monica was an evil mermaid who stole the queens power and was later banned to land. She is kind of a ghost because she can posses people and take form of them. The only exception to her ghostly form is that she is "solid" Luke an actual living creature, not transparent. The third person is Oceania Jenkins. A mermaid who was born human. Her mother and father were mer folk. Her and her 3 sisters, Galia, Oceania, Graceland, and Syrena at the youngest. She helped her sister and Libra defeat Monica. Her husband served and died in the Civil War and her daughter named Ariel Jenkins lived on land. The last one is named Amanda Plinoth. The first full mermaid to survive on land for her entire life. Normally, if a mer folk moves onto land they lived in the sea for a day at the least but for this mer it is different. She was born a mermaid but was living her entire life on land. Within 10 seconds of her being born she had legs. She lived in a house on land and never in the ocean. Many mers have been born on land with a tail but have died. This was the only one who didn't. The rest o this chapter has a list of 20 more mermaids but they have brief descriptions and are in a list.
I closed the book. I couldn't believe what I just read.
"My mom is a mermaid." I said.
"Who's your mom?"
"Amanda Plinoth."
"Ooh she is FAMOUS. Everyone knows who she is. You learn about her fairly quickly."
"Honey I'm home. Also, have you seen Luke?"
"Um, no mom I think he is swimming?" I said trying to think of a reasonable reason.
"Hey can I ask you a question...in private." I yelled from upstairs.
"Sure I'll be right up." She stepped into my room while Ariel waited in the hall. I knew she would listen in so I might as well of just let her stay in my room.
"What is it you want to talk about?"
"Why didn't you tell me you were a supposedly famous mermaid." I said.
"Oh. Well I didn't know if you would ever be one because it seems to skip a generation. I didn't want to risk telling you."
"It's alright." I sighed.
"Do you know where Luke is?"
"No. I haven't seen him for a while."
"Ok, thanks sweetie." My mom walked out and Ariel walked in. We heard whispers and mumbles from Luke's room. I heard book and mermaids. It must've been about the book.
"Hey want to take a vaca to Ireland?" I asked smirking and raising an eyebrow.
"I've always wanted to go there." We walked out of my room.
"Mom, we are going swimming."
"Sure be back by 8:00."
"K!" I yelled and we ran to the beach and dove in. We quickly swam toward Ireland. I don't know, but I have a feeling mermaids have a natural sense of direction. About half way I saw Luke and Jaelyn. We darted behind a clump of kelp and hid there. I heard them talking and swimming slowly. We flicked around and Ariels hand accidentally slapped my face.
"Ow!" I whispered-yelled.
"Sorry I didn't do it on purpose!"
"Shhh! We're gonna get caught!"
"You shush!" I punched her arm.
"There we're even." I said smiling. She slapped me. Before we knew we were slapping and shushing and whisper-yelling at each other.
"Why are you guys here?" Asked a familiar voice. A clearly annoyed voice too. We looked up and Luke was holding the kelp clump apart.
"Wait this isn't my house." Ariel said looking around.
"Or the cave." I said playing along.
"Guys, I'm not dumb." He said glaring at us.
"Luke is everything ok?" Asked the mermaid.
"Yeah I thought I just saw a bull shark." he responded back.
"Please just go home. By the way, don't pull anything like this again or I will kill both of you."
"Murderer." Ariel whispered to me.
"I know, right?" We sat there for 5 minutes and we didn't here any talking. I peered from behind the kelp to see Luke unconscious and his nose bleeding. Not good. Blood equals sharks.
"This is what happens when you mess with me Montgomery." She sneered. This girl wasn't his friend at all. She was a complete and udder conman. Sorry, con women and she was after Luke.

Thanks for reading my chapter and I hope that you liked it. Also, I'm not sure if I mentioned this but I might not do a third book of Swan Cove but just continue from this book. I might also make book three part of this modern story. Still the same title just different time period. Once again, thanks for reading!
