As we walked down the beach a thought popped into my mind. It was Kaitlyns birthday. Who's Kaitlyn you may ask? She was my sister. A year older than Hannah and three years younger than me.
2 years earlier
"Come on Heidi they're gonna eat all the cake before I get there!"
"Kaitlyn, it's your own birthday they're not gonna start until you get there." I sneered.
"Just hurry up!" She yelled. My phone rang.
"Kaitlyn don't cross until I get there!" I yelled down the sidewalk.
"Hello? Oh hi Briar! I know, right?" I continued talking to Briar on my cell phone. Suddenly I heard a high pitched scream. It sounded like someone was being killed.
"Hold on one sec." I said into the phone. I looked up and saw Kaitlyn in the street. She was motionless and cut and bruised. Was she dead?
"Briar I gotta call you back." I hung up and ran over to Kaitlyn. I started crying and dialed 911. I knew she was dead because of me. I knew she was dead before I even called 911. The person that hit her left too. This is terrible. Because of me she died on her birthday. Because of me she'll never be able to see her friends and family again. Mom and dad and my sisters will hate me. Everyone loved Kaitlyn too. Everyone will hate me. I heard the sirens and saw my two sisters and mom and dad rushing over out of their car. I cried into my mothers arms. My sister was dead. Because of me."Heidi are you alright?" Luke asked concerned.
"I'm fine." I whispered. I stared at the ground and continued walking.
"What is it. Your crying. Oubviously something is wrong."
"It's Kaitlyns birthday." I mumbled.
"Who's Kaitlyn?"
"My sister up until 2 years ago."
"What happened?"
"I wasn't paying attention and she crossed the street then got hit. The person that hit her left too." I sighed.
"Oh. I'm sorry. I shouldn't of asked."
"No it's fine."
"How old is she today?"
"13." I said.
"Do you wanna go home." I nodded as all my tears came out. He hugged me as we walked home.Oh my god I'm such a terrible person. Sorry for the short chapter.
PS there is a reason I did this.
