We swam her house. The small ones were in the front and it lead to bigger ones. We went to the middle of the city. There was a pretty decent house. It was smaller than my three (yes 3) but it was cozy. I liked it. We swam into the house and her aunt greeted us.
"Who's your friend?"
"Heidi she's human."
"Oh then I suppose you won't want cod."
"Oh I actually love cod. Not to intrude."
"Oh no how long you staying?" She asked me.
"I don't know a girl did this and I'm not sure how long it lasts." I mumbled as I fiddled with my hair.
"Monica. Yeah she's a jerk. Big one. She actually turned me human for a week." She laughed.
We sat down and she served us the fish. It was raw. I looked at it disgusted. It was raw. Raw.
"I forgot humans don't eat raw animal." Brynn said.
"My aunt can cook it. Somehow."
"No it's alright I'll eat it." I picked it up and took a bite. It was delicious. Oh no, I was becoming more mermaid than human.
"This is the best cod I ever eaten! Sorry, ate." I exclaimed.
"My aunt is a mean cooker." Said Brynn proudly.
"Wanna go swimming when we finish eating?"
"You know that's right." She said. We ate the rest of our fish and put our plates away. We swam out to and into the city to explore the shops and places. I was looking around and saw you-know-who. Luke.
"Brynn will you excuse me for a bit. There's someone I need to talk to someone." I swam over to Luke and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and faced me.
"Hi do I know you?"
"Luke it's me. Heidi."
"Heidi? But you were.."
"Yeah well that's not me. And now I'm stuck here for who knows how long!" I yelled. He hugged me.
"Heidi if it's not you then who is it?"
"Her name is Monica. She made me a mermaid.."
"Why don't you turn human?" He asked.
"That's the problem. I can't. Why do you think I look like this?" I said gesturing toward myself.
"Oh. I knew something was weird. Like since when have you dressed in skirts and heels."
"Ha! That's true. Do you have any idea how to turn me human again?"
"I can ask my mom. She's ought a know something." I saw Brynn smirking at me from a distance.
Who's that? She mouthed.
A friend from land. I mouthed back. She shook her head in disbelief, like she was saying yeah, right. Even though I've only been there for about 5 hours but I've learned that she is a lot like Briar. Fashionista and an Aphrodite. Oh no, Briar! I left her behind.
"Hey Luke, tell Briar I'm alright. Also do not tell Monica about this."
"You got it. Bye Heidi."
"Bye Luke." I swam back to Brynn and he swam back to shore.
"Who's that?" She said smiling.
"My friend."
"You sure about that?" She said.
"Positive." I responded.
"Come on there's a place I wanna show you." I followed Brynn to wherever we were going. Eventually I'm gonna become human again. Hopefully.
