Lapland

Finally we made it to lapland. We have just touched down in Rovaniemi airport. Once through security and once we have collected our luggage Matt finds a cab and we take the five minute ride to Santa's village where we have rented the cabin for the week. The air was so crisp and cold but it didn't bother me one bit.

Once we checked in t the main reception we went in search for our cabin and found it nestled neatly in the back row. It was a lot larger than i had pictured. it was more a chalet i would say but whatever.

Entering we were greeted with a blast of warm air. The place was beautiful. The lounge had a stone fireplace with a mirror and a few other things decorating the mantle, next to that was a cream coloured arm chair with a lamp behind it. The couch was a dark blue three seater and a small black square table took center which was decorated with assorted candles. There was an archway that looked into the kitchen which was beautiful it had a rectangle island and all the usual kitchen equipment and a beautiful black light fixture. the countertops were cream coloured while the cabinets were a dark mahogany i would guess though truthfully i had no idea about wood types. I moved on to find the bathroom which had a bath with a shower overhead and the bath cover was made of stones. there was a sink with a large mirror and lights above it. very nice, simple but lovely. Next i found a bedroom and i turns out all four of them are pretty much the same except some had a wardrobe while others had a chest of drawers, either way there was nothing more than somewhere to put clothes and a bed with side tables and lamps. Again basic but lovely. i chose to stay in the one i found and threw my suitcase on the bed and made my way to the kitchen and opened the fridge where i found milk, a bottle of wine with a tag that said welcome and assorted cheeses. very random. Closing the fridge i plopped myself onto the couch when Jay came out.

"Not bad huh?" He said.

"It's lovely," I smiled sitting up allowing him a place to sit.

"Oh my gods, i found a sauna." Hay said running into the living room. I jumped to my feet and hurried after her.

"Oh wow this is cool, we must use this soon." I said, IT was a plain wooden sauna, rather standard and would fit the four of us comfortably.

"Hell yeah." Hay replied with a grin.

"I vote we freshen up then go explore and look for a food joint while we're at it? I'm starving." Matt said popping his head in,

"I say that sounds like a plan batman, i am quite hungry myself." Hay agreed. i nodded and we piled out the sauna and headed to our rooms to freshen up.

Upon exploring we found a cafe called the Christmas house restaurant and coffee house. We headed in and found a table for four was available, the waitress seated us and handed us each a menu. I chose the grilled chicken with a caesar salad side, Hay had the same, Jay and Matt both opted to try a Reindeer sirloin steak which made Hay and i upset.

"I can't believe you're going to eat Rudolph." I said.

"It's not Rudolph don't worry he's out there, it might be his father, mother, or sister maybe." Jay chuckled.

"You are nasty Jay." I slapped him.

"What? How come it's okay for you to eat chicken little but i can't eat Rudolph's family?"

"Don't say that, It's not chicken little, it's different."

"It's really not."

"Fine i'll shut up about it."

Dinner was lovely despite Jay teasing me about the reindeer. We then headed to the info center to check out what there was to do here.

"Oh look listen to this. Wilderness Lodge overnight and search for the Northern Lights with Wild Nordic Finland.
