"We look so hot!" I commented shamelessly as we stared at our reflections in the mirror after doing a little twirl with our dresses.

What? There's no one around to judge us.
It's only me and my best friend.

"Hell yeah, we do!" Mel cheered. It is currently 5.05 pm. It takes only a 10 minute drive for us to reach the venue so we still have plenty of time left.

Four Hours Ago

After the movie, we start to get ready for the evening. I headed back to my room first while Mel proceed to her car to grab her belongings before taking a shower in the guest room. I picked a random top and some sweatpants from my walk-in closet before entering the bathroom.

I am not planning on dirtying my dress even before we stepped out of the house.

Trust me, that has happened once. I was getting ready for a party and since there was still a lot of time left, I decided to have some ice-cream. Due to my clumsiness, it melted and dripped all over my dress when I was using my phone.

It was a really disastrous day that I do not wish to reminisce.

I stripped out of my clothes and headed to switch on the warm water. As the warm sprinkles of water rolled down my neck and slowly onto my upper arm and my wrist, I let out a sharp hiss and immediately switched off the water.

I press my free hand onto the injured part and begin jumping up and down, hoping that the stinging pain will subside soon.

Thank God it has already stopped bleeding yesterday, or else it would've been ten times worse.

Hell, I swear I'm never going to do this again.

No, not the showering part, but the cutting one.

I feel so stupid now for cutting, or maybe every time single time previously, after I cut. The next morning when I take my showers, I would be there hopping around, gripping my wrist and feeling really pathetic and dumb.

However, every time I hold up the blade or even take a look at it, my brain will always be screaming at me to do it - and before I even know it, blood will be oozing out the next second.

Sighing, I switched on the water again and let the water droplets fall onto my skin once more before applying shampoo on my slightly wavy and long blond hair.

20 minutes later, I hear a knock on the door as I am getting out of the bathroom. "Come in," I yelled as I used my towel to dry my damp hair.

"So, as usual, I'll start by fixing your hair first and you doing the same afterwards. Then, we'll go on to the makeup and finally changing into our outfits." Mel stated in one shot.

"Got it, Ma'am," I saluted as we got to work.

This is usually our style of getting ready for whatever occasions whenever we were together, especially on dates and for parties. Yeah, we are almost eighteen and going to college soon so we do attend parties now and then.

It's a way for us to distress and get... wasted?

But let me warn you first, hangovers really suck.

"So... any idea who your date is or how he looks like?" Mel asked, breaking the silence as she continues to do whatever she's doing with my hair.

"Does it really matter? I am not really interested." I replied, playing with my nails.

"Yes! Of course it freaking does matter! He's your date tonight and let me give you a little hint, he's really hot and you know him too! Trust me, Cait, you will not regret going tonight." Mel started going on and on about how excited she is and how cute my date is.
