(Hayden's POV)

Two days.

That's how long I've been back from my college tour and guess what?

The moment I stepped foot into my house, the first thing that I hear from Bren was:

"She's mine!" He yelled in triumph,

fist bumping the air.

"What?" I still remember asking.

I mean, come on! I've just returned so obviously I don't know what happened the past few weeks, right?

"Caitlyn. She's my girlfriend now." He repeated clearly this time.

"As in O' Connells?"

"No shit Sherlock. She's such an amazing girl and every moment I spent with her is..." He rambled on and on.

But the only thing that I managed to catch was, She's my girlfriend now.

How can so much happen in just a week?

How can I be so blind and stupid as to miss the only opportunity that I was given to spend quality time with the girl I had a high school crush on?

If only I didn't receive that call from the college and if only I didn't volunteer to let my cousin take my place.

If only all that happened, she might be mine now.

I should've seen the way Bren was looking at her, with so much lust, when we were watching the movie, and how his arms just so casually slung around her shoulders.

How I wish I could turn back time and change it all around.

He shouldn't be the one looking so happy now beside me, while I was just sulking.

"Hey man, you free next Friday? I heard there's this very cool party at Kyle's." Bren asked, bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah, I guess so." I answered.

I do not have a very busy life and since school is officially over, I'm even more free.

"Great! Wanna come with me? I'm intending to bring my girl along." He invited, smiling goofily at the mention of the word 'girl'.

I tried my very best to put on what I thought was a smile, and just as I was about to decline his offer, an idea popped in my head.

"Sure! That sounds great."

Let the game begin. If he wants to snatch the girl that was supposedly mine, he shall have to go through hell and Caitlyn would be mine. In fact, she should've been mine long ago.

'Well, my dearest cousin, even though we are related, we'll see what you deserve for messing with what's mine,' I smirked to myself in satisfaction.

☮Caitlyn's POV☮

Full swing.

It's Friday today and the party that Brenny insisted me to come to was super crowded, with people spotted at every corner of the gigantic three story mansion.

Duh, that's because you are like two hours late.

Oh yes, that.

Brenny thought it was 'cool' to be fashionably late for parties, and took even longer than me to get ready.

Seriously, those people who thinks that being late for events are out of their minds. When you're late for something, by the time you arrive, the whole place would already be congested with people and there would be no way you can squeeze into the venue without getting squashed by sweaty bodies, in this case.

Ew.

After a few vain minutes of struggling to get our way in, the three of us, Brenny, Hayden and I, finally got into the kitchen, where the noise level wasn't that high and we were still able to hear each other.

Yeap! Hayden was back and I was surprised to see him in the car when Brenny picked me up at my house just now, before going back to his to get himself ready.

However, there seemed to be something different about Hayden this time.

He used to be always smiling and ecstatic. Now, he looked a little... Sulky?

I don't know how to describe this, but somehow, I just don't feel like it's a good idea to attend the party today.

I mean, come on! It's still winter and it's freezing outside. Who with their right minds would want to dress up and attend a party on a Friday?

Well, I wouldn't be here if not for Brenny insisting that I come. You have no idea how annoying he was when he whines.

Due to that, I had no choice but to abandon my date with Netflix and get out of my bed.

"You want a drink?" Someone asked from behind, placing his palm on my shoulders.

It was definitely a 'he' as the palm was huge and fleshy, and it wasn't Brenny for sure, as jolts of electricity did not fly corse through my body.

Turning around, it was Hayden.

"No, thanks. I'll just have soda," I declined politely. I wasn't here to drink today.

Like I've said a million times, I was only here because I was forced to, and it was also against my wills.

"Sure! Wait here, I'll be back real soon," he replied.

There was a slight hint of a smirk on his face, and his eyes flashed with an emotion which I couldn't really decipher with the poor lighting.

Before I could make out what it was, he had already spun on his heels and exited the kitchen.

What was so amusing that caused him to smirk?

And that was also one of the few reasons which I found him a little out of place today. He wasn't usually the one who likes to smirk so much.

So, what's up with him?

Hmm, weird.
