"One... Two... Thr-"

I forced my eyes open and shot up from my bed immediately. Mel held a bottle of Gatorade in her hands, waiting to pour it on my head. "Okay! I'm awake! Don't you dare pour that liquid on me or else you won't get to live for another day," I warned. "Great! You're finally up. Now go freshen up and we'll talk about what happened that day during breakfast." She demanded and I saluted her,"Yes, boss!"

Mel was supposed to be at my house on Sunday to talk about my date but she got caught up with some personal stuff and that explains why she's here only now. "Give me 15 minutes and I'll be down," I told her and grabbed my clothes from my closet before shutting the bathroom door. "Okay! I'll wait for you downstairs then. Kate is fixing breakfast now. Be fast or you won't get your share," Mel yelled from outside and soon, I heard the door close. I tied my bed-hair into a messy bun and started brushing my teeth. After that, I took a quick shower and put some clothes on before blow drying my hair. It's really annoying to me whenever my damp hair keeps on clinging onto my back. So, I make it a point to always dry it after my showers.

I picked my phone up from my bed and unlocked it on my way down. I scrolled through the tons of unimportant notifications hastely as they were not that important until I saw one. It was from an unknown number. I decided to take a look at it since I don't usually receive texts from people I don't know.

"Hey there, Cupcake. I'll be picking you up at 5pm on Friday. Is that okay? :) -Hayden"

I stopped dead in my tracks, shocked. I've not heard from Hayden ever since the date on Saturday and today was Wednesday. I closed my eyes for a few seconds and opened it again. It was still there, so my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. The text from Hayden was real. A smile crept it's way to my face.

"Yeah, I guess I should be able to make it. By the way, how did you get my number? -Cait"

"For me to know and for you to find out ;) -Hayden"

I rolled my eyes and simply replied with a "Jerk". Upon arriving in the kitchen, I sat opposite Melissa and on the table was a plate filled with pancakes and syrup, both waiting impatiently for me. "You take so long to get ready, you know," Mel complained when I took my seat across her. "Hello to you too," I commented and rolled my eyes. "Alright! Spill the beans now," she chimed excitedly. Great! After a long sigh, I took a bite of my breakfast before recollecting what happened that evening and related it to Mel.

---

"Oh my gosh! I'm so proud of you my best friend! You are finally making progress in your love life," Mel chriped and pulled me into a suffocating bear hug. "I. Can't. Breathe," I managed to choke out and Mel pulled away, giggling but stopped after a few moments. "Wait, Cait. Did you just mentioned that your date is on Friday?" she asked seriously. "Yeah..." I dragged on the 'h' and slowly nodded my head and she cursed,"What the h- happy birds! We are supposed to go on a holiday this coming Friday!" She caught herself before swearing. "What? A holiday? Mum didn't even tell me anything!" "Well, I was supposed to break the news to you on Sunday. However, as you know, I was held back with the things happening at home so it completely slipped my mind. Alright, so you have only two days to pack and I'm here to help you so get your ass upstairs now." I agreed and we walked upstairs gleefully. So many thoughts were running through my mind.

Where were we going? How long would we be there? Would we be spending Christmas there since it was only a week and a half away? Who would be joining us?

"Wait a minute, Mel. That means I won't be able to meet Hayden on Friday?" I asked, slightly dissapointed. She shook her head and opened my luggage before replying,"Nope. However, my mum and Kate agreed to let us tag one friend along and in my case, it would be Paul and in yours, Hayden!" Bring a friend along? I beamed at that thought.

"Bring Hayden along? No! We aren't even that close, Mel," I argued. "Aw, too bad! I've already informed him on your account and he agreed to go," she gave me an innocent smile and began invading and ransacking my closet. "But he didn't cancel the date just now when he texted me in the morning and told me that he would be picking me up at 5," I asked. "Oh. I sent the text when you were devouring your breakfast just now," she replied.

That sly girl!

"Urg! I hate you," I replied with annoyance but deep inside, I was doing a happy dance.

"Aw, you know you love me. You can thank me later," she popped her head out of the closet room and gave me a wink before disappearing inside again.

Before I got up from my bed, I asked a few final questions,"Where would we be going and how long would we be there for?"

"We would be flying to Hawaii on Friday at 8 am and we would be staying at a beach resort for a week. Anything else you want to know?" She questioned.

I shook my head and got up from my bed to prepare my stuffs.

A trip to Hawaii? That has always been my dream vacation spot and to top it off, I am actually going to stay at a beach resort with Hayden, my best friends and our parents! To say I am excited is an understatement.

"Cait? You there?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Oh. I thought you went out since you didn't reply me."

"Opps. I think I shook my head just now. Anyways, I think that I have no questions for you for the time being."

After my reply, we both started cracking up. I really wonder how dumb I can get sometimes...
