Of course, I could not choose the latter, even though that was what I intended to do in the first place.

I can't be so selfish as to continue staying here and freeze in the cool night breeze with a yawning Brenny, right?

By the way, a sleepy Brenny looks really adorable. He looked even sexier when he rubs those mesmerizing eyes of his.

Anyways, back to the main point. After making up my mind, I took a few slow strides forward. Soon, I was walking along beside Brenny and Blake, in complete silence, all the way until we reached the car park.

I let out the breath that I had no idea I was holding and mentally gave myself a pat on the back. Blake hadn't noticed me yet, which is of course a good sign.

The last thing I want was for him to realize my identity. That would not be needed.

We stopped beside a black car and Blake proceeded to unlock it.

It wasn't just any ordinary black car.

It was the one that I used to always ride on, to and fro school with him. How can I forget? Thinking about him, a pang of hurt flashed across my chest.

Sighing, I turned to open the car door. However, it was already widely opened by Brenny. I smiled a little by his simple act and mouthed a quick 'thank you' to him being getting into the car.

We were not the only ones in the car as there were two other figures sitting beside me.

It was very dark already so I could only hear their voice and also the sound of their endless flirting. I could only guess that they were a couple.

I could not really make out their features, but I most definitely did recognize those two voices.

Just as I turned to make my way out, my head bumped into the hard glass window.

Urg, me and my slow brain. How did Brenny close the door without making a single sound? Maybe you were just too distracted to hear it? My brain reminded me. Oh yeah, that makes sense. However, I still am really annoyed with my brain for reacting so slowly most of the time.

With the loud bang that I just made, the noise stopped and someone switched on the light.

"Who's that?" the annoyingly high-pitched voice asked.

Brenny's POV

"Who's that?" a voice asked from the back. After closing the door for Lynnie, I made my way to the passenger seat as the back was already full.

After strapping on my seat belt, I turned to face the people behind. Everyone was now staring at Lynnie.

"What happened?" I asked, clearly clueless to why they were staring at her. Were they playing some kind of staring contest? Well, if they were, I would most gladly join as I am really good at staring at someone for a really long time without blinking.

"I bumped my head onto the window accidentally," She replied with her face hung lowly, clearly embarrassed by her confession.

I held back a laugh and replied with an "Oh", as I had no idea what else to say.

I directed my attention to the two other figures beside Lynnie, who were now back to their own conversations.

Even with the lights on, I couldn't really see them clearly. It's not because my eyesight is bad, but I was really sleepy.

When I was about to turn back to the front and mind my own business, someone tapped me on my shoulders and spoke. "Hey! You are Brennan, right?" I turned around and when I opened my mouth to speak, she cut in,"Oh my! Yes you are!"

It took me a while to register her words. I squinted my drowsy eyes so that I could see her better. And as I was about to ask for her name, she answered my unasked question.

"I'm Chloe, Thrish's sister. Do you still remember me?"

Oh! I remember now.

Thrish's sister...

Just the mention of that name can bring back all the misery and pain that I've felt for the past few months.

"Oh hey, Chloe! What are you doing here?" I asked, my voice sounding still a bit sad.

"I'm here on a vacation with my boyfriend and his older brother. Let me introduce you to them. Bren, this is Blake. Blake, this is Bren," she said and pointed at Blake who was currently driving. I gave him a nod and he returned it. "And this is my boyfriend," she continued and tugged at the figure beside her,"Bren, this is Alex. Alex, this is Bren."

We shook hands and when I got a closer look at the guy, all the blood which I had on my face previously drained and my face paled.

This is so freaking not happening!

We released our hands and I quickly turned to face Lynnie. It was just like I was looking at a mirror as the look on her face was the same as mine.

"Who is she?" Chloe asked, turning to face Lynnie.

Before I could form the words to say, Lynnie introduced herself.

"I'm Caitlyn O'Connells, your boyfriend's ex." she stated bluntly.

Uh oh. Looks like things are going to get really awkward here.

How I wished that I asked the man whose whole body was stained in ink just now instead.

He might just drive you to a deserted place and most probably murder you there. Or worse still, shoot you even before you can board his car.

My brain informed me.

However, we can't just judge a book by it's cover right?

Just like this jerk over here who looks so decent and nice. In actual fact, he had cheated on Lynnie previously.

Most probably, he's just a player like me...

Hang on! Don't get me wrong.

Even though I'm a complete player, I still have a heart in that ribcage of mine.

I don't go around cheating on girls and neither do I go around breaking hearts.

And you know what?

In my entire life, I've only been in a relationship once and I've also only dated one girl.

That one and only important girl that made my entire world crumble into pieces and changed it completely ever since then.

Sadly, she's no longer here with us now.

If I could turn back time, I most definitely would. However, this is reality that we are talking about.

Even though we've lost a really treasured and loved girlfriend or kin over here, there's a gain up there.

She's now an angel resting peacefully in Heaven with God.
